Personally I think he has something like borderline personality disorder or sociopathic tendencies, because he seems to observe emotions rather than feel them and enjoys manipulating and toying with his personal relationships (friends, family, students). But he also seems to be aware of this issue so he keeps himself in check. Personally I think of it like how it feels when you're on medication that affects you (cold meds that make you sleepy but you know you are sleepy because of the meds not because you are ACTUALLY sleepy) or when you get angry and lash out but you know you're not really mad at the person/thing you're lashing out at. The awareness sometimes makes it even worse, because you know the REASON behind it but don't really have the power or ability to change anything to make it better.

Also, I just realized after watching this, that you haven't reacted to "I Promised You the Moon", the continuation of "I Told the Sunset About You." Two really good sequels that you won't be disappointed with.
