(uncut) Combatants Dispatch ep 4

yeah nobody talks about Konosuba's larger story/plot by itself, it's so much more character driven. The story is not even secondary but tertiary or below Great things about Konosuba are character interactions & voice acting, then trope subversion and parody which feels tied to directing/camera framing, then ecchi/boobs jiggle (popularity not critical acclaim), then design/art (pretty explosions & backgrounds), and THEN plot/story. Nobody talks about Konosuba and focuses on the 'compelling narrative' or moral lessons. the animation might be the only thing that is less interesting than the story, since they use repeated animations looping over & over constantly for joke moments when characters are distressed/waving hands. Which kinda works for parody anime

they did say it did have a story, but i agree with them, it did come secondary. There is a reason why you can constantly forget it has a story.

Konosuba has a story, their main objective is still fighting the Demon King. It just happens that they stumble onto the demon generals. And in the short time they are in that world, they already defeated 4/8 generals that protect the demon castle. Vis said she will stop doing it in the end, so they already at 5/8. The fun of Konosuba's main story is, it goes forward, but we barely notice it because of all the dump stuff happening to the group.
