2024-04-27 14:31:05 +0000 UTCSomething that a lot of people won't catch, Hector's manner of speaking is very similar to how Roswaal currently speaks, stretching out some words. Similarly, Emilia has the habit of stretching out the word sugoku ("very much") into sugoooku like Fortuna did. Roswaal from the past did not speak like that or wore a clown makeup, so it's probably relevant, although we don't know yet why this is (at least in the anime, I'm not an LN reader). Anyway, now that Hector (Melancholy) has been revealed in the anime, we can talk about him and Pandora (Vainglory or Vanity) a bit and how they fit in the idea of the "seven deadly sins". Speaking of the actual history/outside of anime, the seven deadly sins originally were 8: Greed (Avarice), Wrath (Anger), Sloth, Gluttony, Pride, Lust, Vainglory, and Melancholy (Sadness) https://www.history.com/news/seven-deadly-sins-origins At some point, Melancholy was removed, Envy was added, and Vainglory essentially merged with Pride and that's how we end up with the seven deadly sins that we have today. Pride also was considered to be the ruler of the other seven vices (interesting given that Petelguese had surmised that Subaru was the archbishop of Pride, and also mentioned that it is the only sin archbishop seat that was currently empty).
