Montblanc Norland's last idea was that it had sunk into the ocean. That's why his descendant Montblanc Cricket was diving for the gold. (and managed to find those golden ingots shaped like bells and the South Bird.) Cricket knows there's Sky Islands made of Island Clouds that can be accessed by the knock up stream, but he doesn't know that Shandora got shot up there.
