2022-03-26 07:17:26 +0000 UTCI think it starts high, dips down, and but does get better with each episode to the end. I think a factor that helped for me is that the show is clearly just a Dungeons and Dragons game in anime form from the perspective of the characters.

Anime has sadly got to very mainstream in general and have hit the pathetic average normie that can't stand anything out of the norm. Although this happened quite a while back years ago so it wasn't much you could compare it to. Redo came out very recently. Redo is borderline hentai. This episode was mainly just about the R-A-P-E and R rated gruesome killing scenes.

Everyone has a different tolerance so listening to others who complain about can warp your expectations. I watched this show as it aired and people did loose their mind after the first episode. This caused Crunchyroll to add a disclaimer to it afterwards since people were in such an uproar.

The LN could take a bit more time with world building, but the anime needed to fast track the concept.

A lot of hentai had the same tone lol. Goblin Slayer left more to the imagine of cruelty with less fan service. So there isn’t even a drop of visual excitement. That’s the difference. Ugly goblins going after girls. Lol.

After your end talk, which was nothing surprising as episode 1 is somehow overhyped how bad it is, it's just there to set the tone that goblins aren't a joke in this world. Episode 2 forward you all will have easy ride and will have fun seeing "gremlins" butchered.

2022-03-11 20:39:56 +0000 UTCThe reaction to the first episode was grossly exaggerated. There's rape and murder but nothing gratuitous as something like Redo which was borderline hentai. I think it getting attention in the mainstream and freaking out normies made people gas it more then it should have. Like I've said before, this episode is supposed to set up context for this setting and afterwards it gets more tame as it focuses more on the story and characters. Also just a little tidbit, in this show no one ever uses names just titles so Goblin Slayer is what he'll always be referred as and she will be called Priestess. It's a play on D&D where people are known by their Class.
