2022-07-10 23:35:05 +0000 UTCThe subs aren’t the best way to convey the dialogue, I’m bi lingual and biracial so i understand both equally and id say the sub is much better to its own culture, my family who watch anime like this series way more than my friends who I’ve recommended it to, both the sub and dub watchers

2022-04-02 04:40:18 +0000 UTCDubs in general feel weird to me. Even dubs in my native language feel very cringy and nuances become off, especially puns that are dependent on language. Similarly, I feel really weird playing games in Japanese. I tried playing assassins' creed in Japanese and it felt weird so I had to immediately change back to English. Even Donghua, i usually don't like chinese voice acting because they sound monotonous, but compared to english dubs on the same show I'd still prefer the original voices.

2022-03-27 14:18:07 +0000 UTCI think comedy just works a little better in a language you can fully understand, if the performances and script are of appropriate quality you’ll just pick up more on everything as opposed to reading subtitles and trying to understand tonal keys in the voices. Jokes are usually the number 1 thing I’ve seen reactors across the board either miss completely or just not get when reacting to subbed anime

2022-03-27 13:50:15 +0000 UTCAgreed, I've only watched the dub version and have been watching the sub version in full length with the rock lee crew & I gotta say that while both versions are excellent, I really do like the dub more. The jokes hit different and it's just so much fun lol.
