Y'all reading way more into the 10yrs-ago scars than I was lol. just being a parallel speaks volumes - it means sword maiden's been assaulted & violated by the goblins, right? That's far more emotionally impactful than time travel/clones & adds (unique) depth of character IMO. We heard many women adventurers who survive goblin assault end up joining the church as nuns since they feel 'dirty' & can't get over it. Seems sword maiden lady has something similar going on. This was like the 5th anime I ever watched, missed a lot & went with dub which doesn't convey how simple-minded & OCD Goblin Slayer is. I appreciate how you mentioned crazy isn't a good word! It's a loaded term that's done hella damage to mental health awareness. The sub gives off more Overly Cautious Hero vibes, same VA of course. Also he did Anos Voldigoad from Misfit DK academy. Bro's type-casted as an awkward OP 'tism rizzler.

I feel like this perception they had that the girls are trying to limit him just for the sake of it has colored their reaction of these episodes which is a shame. No one cares about treating goblins humanely, especially women.

It's not that well explained in the anime, but the reason for them is that they are in the sewer system of the city, so Goblin Slayer's usual techniques (which are on the level of natural disasters sometimes) might affect the people living above, but they also want him to not use too recless methods in general.

2022-04-01 20:20:09 +0000 UTCYo counter point to director, they aren't preventing him from experimenting but forcing him to experiment more with them prohibiting him from using fire, water (as in flooding their nest by diverting a river not like water boarding), and poison. The more they limit him the more creative he has to get to maximize his effectiveness, goblin slayer is a professional he's not here to torture goblins he's just here to exterminate them as fast and efficiently as possible.
