Ayanokouji is not an AntiHero, he is the main villain of this series (confirmed by the author himself), don’t get it twisted, just because his goals align with Class D at the moment does not mean that he is wont crush anyone to get what he wants. He’s one of the best written characters to ever appear in a light novel series.

I wouldn't say hes a villain because hes treating people like tools, which doesn't necessarily mean evil, but just means he is something like a sociopath. Albeit it could easily lead to very evil things because the whole lack of conscience thing. Btw for light novel readers, i am anime only, please do not confirm or deny anything.

From the beginning of the show hes been in so many situations he didn't have to be in, a lot of times to the detriment of his side character archetype he wants to fit in to. I'm not saying hes hitler, but from a story perspective he has the mentality of a villain.

But even when this show have some "slow" moments, I still find it very entertaining. I really hope they step up the mind game and big brain moment against the other classes on season 2. Also there's some scenes LN readers are excited about, looking forward to that too.

2022-06-26 03:30:41 +0000 UTChis definitely more complex in the LN but i think that he was definitely not against using anyone for his means. most of his "emotions" came from wanting to act like a regular teen but everything comes out awkward and weird because he doesnt know what a regular teen acts like. which is why i think the LN did a fantastic job at tricking the reader. Believing he was a normal LN mc until we slowly realize this man was next level sociopath. I think it was the end of vol 3 (this season) where we finally get to see what he really thinks. all the friends he claim to make and care about (ike, sudo, etc) were just his attempts at "fitting in". hes such an interesting mc imo since its not a simple "badass, edgy anti hero mc". he has so much more complexity

He's just been conditioned to always look out for himself. Survival of the fittest. All I'm saying, the anime certainly isn't doing him any favors making him as empty and cold as possible. Especially when the truth is, unless he has no choice but to use his friends as pawns to remain in this school, he is happy to live a normal life making friends and having fun.
