As of this episode i rewatched ep 1-2 in my Hotel room for Dreamcon. I missed the Key info in the woods when they mentioned Hops daughter was dead, and The professor's lecture at the very beginning, Mike saying the Gorodafhdlfajdfad awas gonna get him, didn't cast protection...etc, definetly a valuable rewatch for me. Havn't had time for more episodes though on my own time.

2024-06-28 16:01:46 +0000 UTCThere are some objective criteria, color composition, perspective, golen ratio. Just by evaluating a picture base on those, you can tell, if there is a higher chance for people to like it. So a picture meeting those crieria is objectively better.

2022-07-25 08:38:59 +0000 UTCPersonally I don't believe the criteria itself is subjective, but that will lead to the conversation devolving into a debate about Realism vs Objectivity vs Relativism which has no definite answer so far. I recognise my initial statement was unjustly strong, but this is due to myself finding the "Art is subjective" statement usually used to dismiss other schools of thought which I can't stand.

2022-07-24 21:45:05 +0000 UTCI can accept this and we should recognise the subjective, I just don't think we should dismiss objectivity either and the statement "Art is subjective" helps propagate this and has been used as a shield for criticisms from both points of view which can be bad since it can lead to some artists not truly reaching their peak.

The reason is like everything it is both subjective and objective. A piece can be objectively bad, someone liking it does not change this. There are many things people recognize as objectively bad but still find themselves enjoying, I don't think art should be somehow immune to this though.

Sometimes art happens by accident I've put random shapes and forms on paper until I find a pattern that is fascinating to me. It very relaxing too.
