2022-07-31 04:13:10 +0000 UTCI think that line hit Emi hard because she was sort of conditioned to view demons as monsters and not as a race of people. Seeing them as a race of people obviously implies there are civilians and noncombatants, since they aren't wild animals or something. Sort of like in Danmachi when they kill all the monsters without thinking then Bell meets the Xenos and it muddles his view on it. Eventually he ends up embracing the hypocrisy but it wasn't something he had thought about before even after killing thousands of monsters before that.
