So now Dameon is debatable because there is actually a direct descendent of the current king alive. Dameon’s personality is causing the council to not consider him and have the king name an Heir other than him. If Dameon was responsible, he’d likely become the automatic Successor as you mentioned.

2022-08-24 17:18:51 +0000 UTCI don’t think you’ll need much GoT knowledge to get what’s happening in this one but it will be medieval fantasy with a bit of magic and dragons so if GoT wasn’t your thing this might not be either. The first episode really impressed me with CGI and production value as well as writing and details that show real effort; I think HBO is going the distance to try an course correct after how GoT ended. As for the agenda stuff this stories staging does deal with the rights of succession between potential King or Queen and their claims as heirs(more historical truth than woke thematically), the message comes across a warning on the dangers of ambition, vengeance and escalation with neither side being portrayed as particularly right or good as they tear their own family and dynasty apart.

2022-08-24 15:47:42 +0000 UTCI’m watching GOT with DDBros and I’m still watching this show, yea you won’t be able to connect family names to GOT or get minor references, but it also gives you a cool way of viewing it.. you can form your own opinions on the houses in this show instead of getting influence from GOT.. Who knows, watching this may get you motivated to watch GOT 🤷🏽♂️ Also I didn’t see any unnecessary “woke” stuff.. felt like a GOT story from the start

What I am basically saying is a lot of series these days in western entertainment are inflicted by the go woke go broke virus and I don't want to waste my time. Also I started watching GOT but dropped it cause I didn't care about it so is this something I would have to watch GOT for? Like to understand stuff?

I never read the book so idk how many span of time this series is but it probably wouldnt reach as far as GOT timeline. I enjoy just the cool details that are throwbacks to GOT and just knowing the names and seeing their ancestors is cool. Like when Rickon Stark announced himself, that shit gave me chills. Plus the whole speech at the end about the dream is so nice to see. For me, this show already doing great. Daemon is a strange character. Not too sure where to put him yet. He seems like the typical spoiled prince-wants to be king character but I think he has shown genuine concern for his family. Maybe he will different but who knows. Just excited to see the rest of this series and it brings back so many memories of GOT

This first episode was straight to business, which suggests that they may not focus on world-building as much as they did in GoT because of that expectation.

Walder Frey is who Rob crossed by not marrying his daughter and he's the one who held the twins which is the crossing.
