What makes this so different from other animes, is that this follows the western mythological hero story structure, the hero's journey - a multistage that follows certain symbological stages that a hero must undergo to become a real hero. You seen it before in pretty much every movie with a hero from star wars to the lion king, however Japan does the shonen hero ala asta or naruto, who are already heroes in spirit, if not power. It makes a powerful anime and a powerful story. Oh and Naofumi is only in the early stages - The call to adventure, refusal of the, tribulations from the refusal, meeting the mentor (Fitoria), and finally at the, the Acceptance of the call of the hero. Theres usually about 7 stages more
