Just saw that you guys watched this and I missed FMAB so been watching this while waiting for the kdrama drops. Anyways, maybe you figured this out in future episodes but also got new realizations: - Remember the dummy Mustang burned in place of Lt. Ross? The ingredients to create that body was similar to what Ed and Al used to create a body for their mom. - So what they actually did was create a dummy. Now since the alchemic matrix they used was for human transmutation, it was gonna try to affix a soul into it. But it’s impossible to bring a dead soul back. - Since Al’s body was also used for the equivalent exchange, Al’s soul had nowhere to go so it got affixed into that dummy for a little while. - When Ed did another transmutation, it took Al’s soul from the dummy and into the armor. - Izumi’s baby could’ve just been a dummy too. There was no stray soul in that room when Izumi did the transmutation because her and her husband still had bodies, only a small part was taken from her.
