The reason why armor haki is black or color now. We learn about haki as well with the main character. Before he/Us viewers didn’t even know about haki until sky island. After that we see haki users lil by lil. Now haki was fully explain to us everyone time someone use armor haki we going to see as a dark color.

The way i see it the only reason we haven’t seen it like that till now is because before the time skip luffy, being the main character, was unable to sense haki. He only had a vague notion of it’s existence. But now he’s fully aware so we can see it

At the beginning, they saw the Noah floating, but they didn't really notice it was following Shirahoshi until it was already in a spot where it could harm the island if she touched it. That's why she's leading it from the island first.
