In the manga there was no power struggle like in the anime he just ran full force, blasted him and he flew. But they still needed him to end up I. The same place to continue the story so that’s why it feels like he didn’t hit him that hard.

That girl was willing to do anything in the service of her "young master", so even though she was an enemy I could not help but feel for her here.
