2021-09-02 05:04:18 +0000 UTCI would hesitate to call the clover kingdom oppressive, especially compared to real world late medieval / early renaissance cultures. I mean peasants are looked down upon - but they own land, they live in the communities of their choosing (as opposed to working as a serf on some noble's estate), and the nobles actively avoid them as opposed to actively fucking with them. Life is hard for peasants, but comparatively easy compared to real world peasants in the same time period. Them consider that the magic knights offers social and economic mobility, the clover kingdom is very progressive for its time period. Its far from perfect, but of the 4 known kingdoms, its the second best for the regular people to live in. Diamond kingdom is pretty awful from what we've seen, and anything more would be a spoiler, so I disagree with Director, but I get where he's coming from. Clover still has a long way to go, but contextually you'd probably be okay living there. But its not perfect and people do fall through the cracks
