Varney and the other vampires' goal is to resurrect Dracula. But St. G's goal is to create a Rebus so he can navigate the Infinite Corridor at his whim, he was just instructed by that mysterious alchemist to use Dracula as half of the Rebus. I think in a previous episode someone mentioned that they needed to resurrect Dracula at the same exact spot where he died, so that's why this movement needs access to the castle, specifically Alucard's old room.
