I know I'm two years late here but to Zirath Ashe: Satanists generally don't worship - or believe in - Satan, despite the name. But, besides that, no, they were saying that people who don't believe in God are more likely to make Satan a good guy (or at least not evil) because there's nothing holding them back from doing so.

Also depicting satan as someone that isn't necessarily a bad person, doesn't make them a Satanist (or atheist) there's several religions including branches of Christianity that believe that satan isn't as bad as everyone makes him out to be. Theres religions where lucifer Morningstar only took up the role as the devil because hell needed a keeper and his role was to punish the wicked and keep them in check. Satan is only evil because certain religions make him out to be evil. Obviously if your religion says he's evil then your going to believe it. But you have to also keep in mind that not every religion is the same and just because someone doesn't think satan is pure evil, doesn't make them a Satanist or atheist. The only right answer is what you believe. However theres also no wrong answer. Your beliefs shape what is truth. Im not saying I think satan is evil or good btw. Just correcting your statement and clarifying the reasoning behind it.

2022-01-10 14:31:52 +0000 UTCYeah the way I honestly always saw it even though I am myself a Christian and belief in the existence of God I can separate the fact that this series is its own depiction from religious beliefs. You shouldn't feel attacked or have any hate towards a series that simply just wants to take religious beliefs and figures and use them to create a story that clearly has no intent to attack religion and disprove it. Its sort of like how if you are logical you shouldn't mistake certain hentai genres for what they are which is a completely made up series of animated and drawn porn even if they have real life aspects to them. Like everyone has their own opinion on certain categories of hentai which some can accept but others can not handle and think is messed up but at the end of the day it isn't meant to hurt anyone and doesn't have anything to do with real life even if it can associate with it. Its kind of hard to explain but I am sure people should understand the differences if they aren't snowflakes and can handle some logic.

After all, most people alive today are Atheists when it comes believing in the Egyptian god Ra or the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, for example. If you don't believe it, then it's just mythology. Might as well have the god of thunder be a superhero. ;)

2021-10-09 20:36:26 +0000 UTCI think most people who make these good depections of Satan are probably atheists. Especially in Japan since atheism is so prevalent there. I don't really think there's a malicious intent behind it. It's not like people who believe in Satan can't separate the Satan they actually believe in from an anime depiction
