2021-09-17 23:00:59 +0000 UTCStudent of demonology here, if I can weigh in on the preshow conversation: simply talking about a demon, saying or writing down its name or even thinking about one intensely can absolutely call a demon to afflict you, or focus its attention on you. This is what makes those items, books and practices we call occult so very dangerous to the mental and spiritual well being of the practioner or student. The notion of a summoning ritual or the like is another matter entirely. Its part worship, part obeisance and part contract. Its an act of faith, of devotion, of showing the demon that you want to call upon it, to rely on it, instead of relying on God to solve your problems - indeed, you are saying that God cannot or will not solve your problem, so you're seeking out another being to do it for you. You ever hear the phrase "speak of the devil and he appears"? Its a warning, not a cute phrase to say when someone you were talking about then shows up, but a warning about how real and omnipresent these kinds of beings are. And just so you know, demonology is the study of how demons affect people's lives, not an occult practice related to summoning, binding, conversing or engaging with demons. Its a religious, theological study within the christian faith (so yes, you can assume bias), as well as other major religions, that deal with the exorcism of and nature of one's spiritual foes. Of course, Director might not believe in these sorts of things, and that's absolutely his right. Still, for your own sake, I wouldn't recommend taking the chance to prove me wrong on this, after all, if you open your door and walk away you can't be surprised that something unwanted might come in. And just because you don't believe in something doesn't make that thing suddenly stop existing (assuming it exists in the first place) - I mean there are a lot of people who think covid is hoax, but even if you think that - you absolutely can still get sick. Food for thought.
