i like the theory that once a devil fruit user dies the power goes to the nearest fruit so on punk hazard the whole island was basically dead like it was covered in lava and ice so i don't think no plant life could grow their so if monet died on punk hazard and the only fruit that was the closest to the island was nami/bellemeres oranges so the strawhats could have the snow snow fruit on their ship and they don't know it

For example, if Buggy dies, does his fruit get reincarnated into the nearest fruit or into the nearest pineapple, since we know what his DF looks like. Same for Kaku's, any fruit or nearest banana even if that's 1000 miles away.

And to me you understood what happened in Punk Hazard, the smiley died and the his zoan fruit was reincarnated in a bag of apple nearby (where I suppose no other fruit could have grown) so the we could say the closest to the scene.

If he gets awakening, it would let it be rubbery so it could stretch while still strengthening it with Haki. This would be like the power pole Goku used which is also based on the staff used by Sun Wukong. Luffy takes after Goku a bit after all.
