2022-01-09 16:23:29 +0000 UTCJudging from this episode the perception that I had was that she is motivated to do her duty as a Hero because of what happened to her father. Knowing that her father died by the hands of the "evil" Demon Lord makes the decision of her father giving her up to the Church as the "right" one. Blinded by that emotion, she tries to take down the Demon Lord but now that she's here she sees that the Demon Lord is not as "bad" as she thinks. She believes in herself as the "just" one since she is a hero but now she is conflicted because her duty is aligned with her personal feelings and she has to choose to be "just" (cause that's what heroes do) even though she might desire to kill because of what he supposedly did to her father. In that sense I agree with Nasty that she needs to grow and move on. I think the anime showed us the beginning segment for a reason

In her emotional outburst she literally said "I will never forgive you", not because of what he did to innocent people, but because he killed her father and took away her childhood. Now if the dark lord truly has changed, she would suppress her emotions in favor of doing the right thing, but that's not moving on.

They haven’t been in Japan for a year yet, and Maou seems to be the exact opposite of what he was. Was he always like this and just misguided, always evil and putting on an act, something in between. Because doing the damage he’s done out of ignorance would be worse. What would you do if someone did that to you and seemed genuinely sorry, where do you put that pain and anger.

A person who had her same exact “occupation” and no emotional baggage would not still be dealing with maou just cuz he’s the “demon lord”. Just saying. Whatever happened to actions speak louder than words.
