Well, I sort of agree with you there, seeing as we do watch the magic item combust and everything... But, my theory has always been that Julius rebuilt it. That, or he reversed time on the item. If we think about time in terms of "life", then someone's (or some thing's) time "ends" upon death. So, even if the magic item "died" 500 years ago, Julius would still be capable of restoring it, because the object was "dead" and therefore stop accumulating more "time". Or again, there's also the fact that the blueprints for the magic item were stored in the Clover Castle, and we know that Julius had started a program for creating new magic items, so it's likely that Julius (1) found the broken item, (2) researched the item in the Clover Castle archives, and (3) rebuilt the item using modern technology. Maybe Julius rebuilt the broken magic item on-site, and just decided to leave it in that random location in the forest, because obviously him dying and coming back to life as a child is an issue (given that his magic is gone now), and if the nobility had been anywhere nearby to witness him revive that way, they would've immediately stripped him of the "Wizard King" title. Hence, the random location in the middle of nowhere to avoid the risk of any nobility just "happening to be nearby". As for what happened to all of that negative mana, well that's obvious, because the devil himself tells us exactly what happened: "[...] The one who used the highest form of forbidden magic on his own body, and the one who absorbed that magic [...]" Lumiere absorbing a lot of that negative mana is the very reason why HIS light magic was able to interfere with the "other world", whereas Patry's light magic (which should've been the exact same as Lumiere's, given they were both 4-leaf clover light mages) had absolutely no effect against the devil's magic. Obviously, Lumiere didn't absorb all of the negative mana, because Licht stopped himself and gave Lumiere the opportunity for a killing strike. However, all of the negative mana that got sucked up by the magic device was forcibly given to Lumiere. Think back to the massacre of the elves: the magic item sucked up all of the elves' magic and then IMMEDIATELY coursed it into the bodies of the human nobility and royalty. So, it's safe to say that Lumiere's proximity to the magic item - which had already been "set" or "programed" to suck up magic and redistribute it - resulted in all of that negative mana being forced into his body. I mean, he was physically touching the damn thing, after all. That's why nothing happened when the magic item combusted. Think about it: if there had actually been magic "actively" stored inside that item, then upon it's breaking, we'd at least see an explosion or something, but nothing actually happened - the item just broke... because there was no magic actively stored inside of it; the item had already siphoned all of it into Lumiere. Like a water pipe that freezes in the cold and bursts open due to the excessive pressure; as Lumiere said, the magic item couldn't withstand "that much mana". Lumiere never said it couldn't STORE that much mana, just that it couldn't withstand it "all at once". The rest of the negative mana inside of Licht remained within the magic stones obviously, hence their ability to revive the elves, Lumiere, and the devil. Those are my thoughts on the issue, anyways. I do agree that a clear, decisive answer regarding the magic item would've been nice, though. As for the "asspull" of reviving the Wizard King, I 100% disagree with you. Julius's revival was planned from the very beginning of the series, and the author set it all up wonderfully. Julius has ALWAYS had that star mark on his forehead, so no one can sit here saying that it was just the author trying to avoid killing off an important (OP) character. Not only was the revival always planned for, but the author even gave Julius a MAJOR handicap, which a lot of shows don't do. The author could've revived Julius as-is, but he knew that wouldn't be "okay". Handicapping Julius to the point that he doesn't even properly OWN a grimoire anymore is a very big deal. Julius does have the one page, but that's likely just the page with the revival spell on it, because obviously he'd have that page upon reviving. Other than that one page, everything he's worked towards for ~40 years is all gone, and he won't be able to get any of it back for at least another 3 years if not longer, seeing as he clearly doesn't have that massive mana reserve anymore, being in the body of a small child. Until he physically grows up some more, Julius is virtually powerless and is completely useless in a fight. That doesn't sound like an "asspull" to me, imo. It sounds very well thought out and balanced.

2022-01-28 23:51:44 +0000 UTCI want to complain again about the one big thing that I dislike about this series after seeing the entire thing with Julius but I will get a bunch of shit again from people that don't even understand what I am saying in the first place. I will just say it really is such a massive stretch. Talking about how Julius could store his time magic in the ancient machine that the first king made yet it had already been busted up from taking that huge blast of magic from Licht when he turned into a demon. That machine is meant to store it up and its clearly got a limit so where did all of that magic go that got absorbed from back then.... Why didn't it stay broken and messed up from that blast.... He could store 13 years of magic into that thing but he couldn't survive a blast from Licht when he turned into a demon... I sound like I am complaining but this is honestly the one thing in the series that bothers me. The series doesn't kill off actual somewhat important characters. Any series can kill of extras that don't matter at all. Made a whole grand thing about killing the wizard king and the creator could have at least made it more understandable and less of an asspull but that is just me.... I really like BC. MHA and BC are my favorites from shonen jump and both have their share of problems so I am not just hating to hate. It just disappointed me seeing this.

Being shamed and abandoned his whole life and only having one friend who was there for him vs the person who finally believed in you. 2022-01-26 01:52:29 +0000 UTCDope reaction Yall. FYI the anime get's some things wrong at times. When Julius said "their mana has grown" was inaccurate. Sometimes they insert extra dialogue. For one, he never said that in the manga, and the manga author confirmed that your internal mana pool is set at birth so you really can't train to increase it (this is the root of the discrimination in Clover Kingdom) You can only increase your magic by refining your mana since mana is the fuel for magic, but even that has its limits. Magic=refined mana, and to make your magic stronger you just need to keep refining your mana control. So in short you can increase your magic by making it stronger through training, but you can't train to increase your internal mana capacity.
