They gave him full creative freedom to make the soundtrack based off his impressions from the manga, which seems fucking incredible, and he made sure they didn't regret it He incorporated Indigenous/aboriginal music & instrumentation with consent &respect from tribal members, made sure to do it properly and pay them - didn't just rip it off. That's so fucking dope IMO, takes backbone to stand up to employer/business to do it right, and we get to hear new inspiring stuff because of it. He actually didn't want this song (or whatever similar one) to be used for the episode 1 final shot of the abyss with Riko showing Reg, but Kevin came to appreciate it later. Said he was wrong. What a lad. Also was open about his depression in 2018 - which was apparently helped by seeing his show get so much love by anime youtubers. Love to see the humility and openness. He seems like the kinda dude who used to drop acid for artistic inspiration lol
