This movie is probably the best ANime Movie I've ever seen...lol...The Villain was DOPE. I think that was a lot of my problem with the 1st season. You'll know I like a dope villain and a favorite character... I didn't really have one in the 1st season...A good antagonist is generally an important selling point for me or a DOPE character I can cheer for or live vicariously through, simp for, etc.
Anyways...Looking forward to Season 2. That's my honest thoughts.

Some visual novels can definitely have more extreme contents than MiA, though in terms of "all-age" manga and anime it's definitely up there. Of all the VN, manga and anime etc. I've consumed, I currently rate Muv-Luv Alternative (most depressing story ever but also the most inspiring) and SubaHibi (philosophical masterpiece, the author is even more of a genius than Tsukushi) above MiA. So I'd recommend you give them a look. Maybe they fit your tastes.

2024-04-04 17:57:21 +0000 UTCMiA is definitely the most f***ed up story I've ever borne witness to. From the very first episode everything is meant to deceive your senses. For instance, the cute design of the characters and the story being focused on children would usually make you think you're about to watch a nice happy show. Oh how wrong you would be. There's also the first opening that both looks and sounds like a happy, cheerful song, but if you look at the translated lyrics, they are dark as hell. Yet the story itself is mysterious and intriguing and draws you in just as the Abyss draws in new victims all the time.

2022-11-18 06:59:10 +0000 UTCalso something I just recently noticed is at the end of episode 13 bondrewd is in the body that has the tail which is a foreshadow to him being able to switch bodies. He didn't want to waste that body for prushkas completion so he switched into a weaker one

2022-10-21 13:54:57 +0000 UTCi think my favorite anime movie is The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, the problem is you have to watch both seasons of it for it to really have the impact. its such a good story though. The abyss is just so messed up :D but its also just such an inticing story. and if you get into all the wierd lore its so interesting. The good thing about season 2 is it rolls directly from the end of this movie just like the movie rolled right from the ending of the first season.

No spoilers, season 2 does have characters tho! Edit: Oh yea, Meinya is licking the cartridge, because animals like their wounds and the wounds of those they deem their herd or family or whatever you wanna call it

A civ that is capable of making shit like Reg, is perfectly able to create shit like HUDs inside the helmets, which use data feeds from their surroundings to reproduce what's outside inside the helmet's insides as a HUD Basically it seems like Reg & presumably others from w/e he's from, are like the Geth in Mass Effect, i.e 1 platform has dozens of em uploaded, so basically a localized hive-mind theoretically I suppose, but I suppose he got fucked when Riko rebooted his ass via the incorrect way, and it reset his software to factory default or something (hence memory less since Riko found him in S1E1)

He's one of the most evil characters I've ever seen in anime. He's totally apathetic to the horrors he imposes on others. So you're right when you say he's not "good", just feels like it's selling it a bit short.

The mask just serves as a means of identification outside of its relic capabilities (That's that dude, Bondrewd!). Nanachi just wanted to destroy the mask because she's understandably sick of it and what it stands for. Excited for season 2 reactions, guys!

If a white whistle goes down to the 6th layer, there is no coming back that is why its calld the last dive, bondrewed came up with the cartridges to try and combat the 6th layers curse so he could do his science unhindered. then he found out about nanachi and mitty and figured that if a person loves you and cares about you to the point of self sacrifice you will be blessed by the abyss and will gain the ability to avoid the curse, that's what bondrewd did with prushka, he got her to that point and did the elevator thing to himself with prushka as a cartridge, its simplifide but thats the gist of bondrewed's plan. the only white whistles that havent taken their last dive are ozen and bondrewed.

Those bugs were supposed to be in the 6th layer instead of the 4th so I think you guys just got confused because they mentioned those flowers and bugs are in the 6th layer but the bugs themselves were not supposed to gather in the 4th layer.
