[POLL] Which arcs did you enjoy the most so far?
Added 2024-11-21 20:24:42 +0000 UTCI did a poll similar to this back when I posted chapter 30 or so on RoyalRoad, but there wasn't much stuff out there back then, so it wasn't as helpful.
Now that you've all had the chance to read a lot further, I'd like to gauge what people like the most to keep it in mind.
This doesn't mean that I'll scrap entire arcs I have planned or anything crazy like that - I already have a pretty clear idea of where I want the story to go, and I've already written a lot further than what I've posted, but it would still be useful for me to know what you all enjoy.
Multiple choice is allowed. Please do comment with any details you think are important, but avoid non-RR spoilers because this poll is going to be visible to the free members too.

I enjoy the clone stuff but mostly for what permenant gains he might get. I'm not a fan of the gods chasing him for the cool thing he discovered it just adds a bit too much stress for me especially as he had a consistent way to grow and that was taken. I don't understand why he wants the water affinity when he has such a good way to use the pure affinity in making the dew I'm assuming he won't be able to do that with water. I think I want him in a secure place to grow with fun clone stories to help with that and just to explore. Im not really a fan of politics. I suppose if it really comes down to it and he's cornered he can just metatron out and then grow there. Shrug sorry this is messy I know just trying to put my thoughts out there not sure any of that is helpful.

2024-11-23 13:56:32 +0000 UTCtbh, I feel like there have been two arcs, one at home and one at the alchemists guild. all the little side quests I don't think were big enough to count as arcs, but the thing with micky and the arena was cool

2024-11-22 07:17:12 +0000 UTCBut not too slow..there has to be a balance. At the slow rate of cores changing, there are going to be many time slips. He definitely needs to find a way to get a one of quick upgrade to his cores.so he can deal with higher quality foes. It can be something where it works only once and only for him. And/or the caveat it cannot be used for cores higher ranked than his.

2024-11-22 01:48:48 +0000 UTCCurrently on free tier so apologies if any of my comments are addressed in later chapters. I liked the Alchemist Guild arc because of the major amount of improvement he has and using what he has learned in new ways but also because it added/expanded more direct relationships like his mentor and Nesha as well as helped the worldbuilding for Remior a lot. We have learned almost as much, if not more, about the worlds the soul clones went to than his own. The clones are good for the unique power ups and helps worldbuild the wider universe but Percy is still very low level in terms of power so learning about what is happening with other worlds and gods, while good foreshadowing for long term arcs when he is powerful, is outside his ability to do much about (from what I can tell at least). I am currently more interested in the lower stakes of how he is going to deal with his family's discrimination and internal politics, help his family against other Houses that want to harm them, etc and slowly work up to things like dealing with gods and whatnot.

2024-11-21 23:55:04 +0000 UTCfor me personally i think spamming the clones would be too powerful. having a slow build up of power is more satisfying in the long run for me as a reader. i am looking forward to his reunion with his family but i think the alchemists arc is a much needed step to that. the clones are great, but we are reading a story about PERCY so seeing him grow is also nice.(i know the clones help him grow but i mean in a diff way.)

2024-11-21 22:13:22 +0000 UTCThis is a progression fantasy and the Guild saw a lot of development and refinement. That makes the Vault ripe for opportunity. I didn't see an option for it but the relationship development with his grandfather and cousin was splendid as well.

2024-11-21 21:07:41 +0000 UTCI think most want to see proper progression. For instance, he discovers a way to almost instantly improve his cores to the next level..and it's one off..only works for him. That would instantly improve the level of potential enemies he can face. Or a rune to make himself forgetful to the rulers of the planet. Some of us are also invested in Baldy's progression. In too many fics the MC outgrows his family, moves away and we never get to see them until near death.

2024-11-21 20:57:26 +0000 UTCI think that the alchemists guild is where he refined the most skills had the most battles. Grinded the most on everything. So it hit that happy medium where he had a safe place but could also go hard. The pressure was all self motivated. Also pretty fresh. At home he was a bit oppressed. Has to deal with a lot of tedious people. The vault is cool but stressful. Clone arcs are generally too fast to leave all that much impact, combined with them usually being one-offs which lowers investment, so the more enjoyable part ends up being how he uses the things he learns.

2024-11-21 20:56:42 +0000 UTCHuehue is Micky's world. Thematically, it's loosely based on Aztec mythology.

2024-11-21 20:52:12 +0000 UTCLove alchemist’ bc MC actually IMPROVED, and others bc, ofc, he also improved in other ways, but huehue arc seem a bit too reckless in regard to companion for me and some interactions could be improve

2024-11-21 20:43:39 +0000 UTCHmmm... Tbh I'm a little surprised the Alchemists' Guild was so well received. Don't take me wrong - I'm glad people enjoyed it, especially since it's the bulk of the book so far, but I thought people were looking forward to the clones the most. After all, it's the main theme of the story. Plus, I also got some negative comments in the past saying that the clones weren't happening often enough. Can some of you give me your perspective on this? Is there something about the clone arcs that didn't resonate as much with you? I want to make all aspects of the story enjoyable if possible xD

2024-11-21 20:33:40 +0000 UTCFloating cat. Why? Because he helps people. And he also had a solid realisation about the why of him doing things. Before pushing beyond his limits to achieve his goal. Essentially: there is emotional weight to his actions. He experiences some emotional growth and deeper learning. He pushes himself to be more than he is, to achieve the best result.
