Regarding Public Polls

I've had some people express concern about the validity of some of the votes on the public polls, i.e. people potentially using VPNs and such to rig it in their favor.

I honestly have no idea how to keep that from happening, so does anyone have suggestions?

I can always like, take the top 4 and then make a twitter poll for it?

Comments

True, but it does make them work for it at least.

I feel like Twitter isn’t going to discourage people that want to game the system, even if you have to be logged in, if someone is determined, they’ll just make accounts for it, which doesn’t really seem like a higher bar for entry than VPNs

Square

Twitter or a public Patreon post poll? Can you make a public post with a poll in it? Largest sample size is going to be Twitter, so maybe the top 4 then go to a twitter poll?

Skullmaster31

Twitter seems like your best bet for some kind of control over this. It keeps it available to everyone, doesn't isolate itself to a core group, and I think you can avoid the VPN issue that way.

Hexjackie

I already let them run for a while anyways with the winner chosen when I go to draw it typically.

Leonardo Luis

Twitter does seem to be the solution, first poll to get 4 options and then twitter polls to choose the winner; downside is multiple steps to get a winner, this could result in a long wait unless you leave both polls on a couple of days each

Thoran

If you're looking to keep it public, a Twitter poll may help, yeah. Would provide a larger sample size of votes. I dunno if you can vote without logging in, though. If you can, that could lead to a similar issue. Top three or two might be more preferable, as well, but that's just me.

SukkuroKun

It's the public poll though, so it's supposed to be open to everyone, including those not on patreon.

Leonardo Luis

Have you tried using the Patreon Poll option? Or taking votes via comments and manually keeping track of them? That's what I do.
