Almost as soon as Jade walked onto the sidewalk, still feeling flustered and overwhelmed, she heard a voice behind her.

"Excuse me. Miss?"

She realized someone had followed her out of the store. She turned to face the person, thinking she had dropped something, and ended up face to face with a man in a well-fitted button-down shirt and trousers. His build was tall and athletic, while the dour look on his face and the crease of his brow made her instantly think he was police or military.

As if on cue, the man reached pulled out his wallet and presented an ID card. FBI. "My name is agent Waters. I wanted to know if you mind having a talk with me and some of my colleagues."

Jade felt her skin go pale, her heart racing in the meantime. The discomfort in her chest was somehow forgotten. "Am I in trouble? Did I do something wrong?"

"Not at all," said Agent Waters. "I was just hoping for your assistance in an ongoing investigation."

"Is this about Pete?" Jade blurted.

"Pete?" said Waters, his brow raising. "I can't say I know who that is. Is he involved in criminal activity?"

"He, er..." Jade stammered. She took a deep breath and tried to gather her bearings. "Do I have to go with you? Am I, am I being detained?"

"No," said Waters calmly. "You are free to leave at any time. Though your help would be appreciated."

Jade knew she should head home if she indeed was free to do so. Getting involved with an FBI investigation was sure to cause nothing but trouble. What did they even want from her? Had she unknowingly witnessed something?

Jade pursed her lips and prepared to politely decline the request, but some unruly part of her nature that wasn't constantly studying and doing extracurricular, stopped her. The fundamental teenage part of her. Jade was truly curious of what this was about. And it certainly sounded interesting. Besides, she had specifically been told that she was neither in trouble nor was she being detained. "Okay," she heard herself say.

"What's your name, miss?"

"Jade. Jade Smith."

After a short ride to the local precinct, Jade found herself seated in Waters' office with him and two other detectives. In her romanticism of the situation, she had thought this would take place in an interrogation room for some reason. The other male detective was wearing a suit while the female was wearing a silk shirt and blazer. It all made Jade feel terribly underdressed when she looked down at the tiny black bandeau she had on, plump breasts and cleavage on display. The detectives were polite enough to pretend not to notice it.

"She's pretty," noted the female detective. Her nametag read Reed. Her expression remained impassive. The remark wasn't a compliment, just an observation.

"She's perfect," said the other male detective with the same neutrality. His nametag read Jacobson.

The three detectives exchanged a meaningful look.

"What is this about?" Jade said. "How do you even know me?"

"Miss Smith," Waters began, directing his attention back to her. "Meeting you at the convenience store today was actually my first time seeing you. Based on our database, you seem to have no record. Can you confirm that?"

"Yes," said Jade weakly.

"Excellent," said Waters. "And you are eighteen-years of age?"

"Uhuh."

"Okay." He spoke very gently despite his humorless demeanor. "Miss Smith, we have been looking for a young woman such as yourself to help us work a case. Our suspect has no friends, no family, and is scarcely interactive. We have found that he has one weakness, however. Around young women such as yourself, he can be quite...interactive."

"Such as myself?" said Jade.

There was a pause.

"You have certain...physical attributes that our suspect tends to seek in women."

It took Jade a moment to register what they were trying to say. "My tits?"

All three agents looked embarrassed.

Jade was embarrassed as well. "These are new," she rambled. "They're just--they're not permanent, I mean, er..." she trailed off in mortification, the agents giving her baffled looks. Jade closed her mouth for lack of having anything coherent to day.

After another moment, Waters said, "You will be paid, of course. And it's not as involved as you might think. Our suspect frequents the same diner every morning without fail. We would like to place you in as a new waitress there. Be friendly with him. See if he says anything. That's all."

"I...erm...there's school," Jade mumbled, though, to be honest, finals were over and she doubted she would be missed in the two party-weeks leading up to graduation. "And my parents..." That wasn't quite an excuse either. Her parents were off working and travelling. She hadn't seen them in months and it wasn't like they missed her either. Jade fidgeted, her chest feeling rather hot and tight again.

"We would place you in a private apartment," Waters said, when it became clear that Jade wasn't going to continue talking. "It's important that you refrain from contacting anyone you know, at least for the duration of the case."

"You want me to be a CI?" said Jade. Confidential Informant.

"Only a few months, at most," said Waters.

"It will be safe," said Jacobson. "We would have an undercover officer posted at the diner as well as your apartment building."

They really wanted this guy. This suspect. "What did he do?" Jade wanted to know.

"Nothing violent," said Waters.

"That we're aware," Reed added.

"I'm afraid we can't give you specific details on the case unless you're signed on."

"I would have to defer college," said Jade. "And my friends would—can I think about it?"

"Of course." Waters offered Jade his card, but paused, and scribbled something on the back. "This is the weekly pay rate we can offer. Please let me know within the next forty-eight hours."

As Jade reached for the card, she felt a peak in tension, then her nipples tingled. She looked down, and to her horror, saw that she was seeping milk into the bandeau, making the material even thinner, her swollen nipples bulging quite prominently against it.
Jade looked back up at the detectives, and all airs had dropped. The three of them were gawking at Jade's chest.

Waters was the first to tear his gaze away. "Thank you for coming," he said, voice a little higher than before.

Jade shoved the card into her purse, gave a hasty nod, and fled. Her breasts bobbed, nipples leaking even worse. She made no eye contact with anyone all the way to her house, at which point she locked herself in her bedroom and finally caught her breath.

What a crazy day.

-

In the hours that followed, the proposition was all Jade could think about. She was set to start college in the fall and under ordinary circumstances would never have considered working as a CI, but she had long had a pervasive fear that graduation wouldn't end things with Pete. What if his blackmailing her carried into the summer? Or beyond it? In all their interactions, he seemed as content as ever, showing no indication of backing off, or anticipation of their breaking ties. Her next meeting with the scumbag seemed to confirm her fears.

"What are your plans for the summer?" Pete asked casually.

"What's it to you?" Jade bit back.

Pete casually drank in the way Jade's breasts tented against her blouse. "Well we're going to have to figure out a new meeting spot. It's not like you answer my calls."

Jade's breath caught in her throat. "What?"

Pete met her eyes, an amused expression crossing his face. "Don't tell me you thought this would end after graduation?" He laughed. "Oh no, honey, we're in for the long-haul. After all, we don't want the admissions officers at your college finding out what you did."

Jade slapped him. It happened before she even realized what she was doing; that she had even reacted to the threat. She looked down at her hand in shock as Pete held his cheek and glared maliciously at her.

"You'll pay for that," he said.

Jade left.

-

The sum written on the back of Waters' card was a bit startling when Jade first looked at it. "Wow," she whispered. $2,000 per week. They really wanted to nab this suspect. What the fuck had he done? Killed someone? Nonviolent, Jade reminded herself. She had specifically been told the case had been regarding nonviolent crimes.

The prospect of taking the job with the FBI was getting more appealing, and logical as well, with every moment she contemplated on it.

It was an opportunity to disappear. Yes she would have to defer college, but it was a paid position. Additionally, she would no longer have Pete hanging over her, threatening to ruin everything while continuously forcing her to ingest unknown substances that were doing god-knows-what to her body.

She could take a leave from Pete, academia, and everything else. She could be a whole

new person. A waitress. That was uncomplicated. A refreshing thought.

Jade turned over Agent Waters' card, took a deep breath, then called the phone number.

-

Jade was not sure they had gotten the measurements right. Everything felt at least a size too small.

The waitress uniform was a cotton button-down dress with an apron over the skirt, and it was fairly standard, but it was tight at the chest, buttons straining, several left undone to make a low neckline through which her cleavage bulged.

She was to do a little training that afternoon; get used to the environment. Apparently the diner owner, Barry Wilson, was in on her assignment and was going to show her the ropes, as she had never worked in the service industry before (and had never expected to either).

Another waitress whose name was Cynthia was also in on the operation. There would also be an unidentified undercover cop on site posing as another of the regulars.

It was Jade's first week off Pete's drugs, and she was anxious to see the effects (or lackthereof). Pete had been calling and texting relentlessly since the day before when Jade had not showed up at school. It was a relief to truly be able to ignore him. He could tell whoever he wanted about her incident of cheating. His power over her was gone.

The pressure in her breasts was as consistent as ever, if not seeming to worsen at times, and Jade was worried about another leaking incident. It didn't help that she was currently braless. The uniform hadn't included one, and Jade's suitcase full of clothing and personal items had been compensated when she had showed up at the police station that morning to assume her new life.

Detective Reed stood back and looked over Jade's waitress uniform approvingly. "It's perfect."

"Kind of skimpy," Jade couldn't help mumbling.

Reed gave the faintest hint of a smile. "It's almost as bad as how I had to dress when I worked vice."

"Oh," said Jade in surprise. She became ashamed of her complaining. Police work was hardly luxurious, she supposed.

"Ever considered joining the force, Smith?"

"No," Jade admitted.

"Well consider it. It's not all traffic stops."

There was a knock on Reed's office door.

"Come in," Reed called.

In walked Waters and Jacobson. They looked equally impressed by Jade's appearance, Jacobson's eyes discreetly flickering down to Jade's plump breasts.

Jade's thick hair was out of its ponytail and hanging around her shoulders, a bit more tousled than she was used to it being. She had gone from a straight-laced student to a weary waitress, and it was sort of...liberating.

"Now we just need you to hold Bryson's interest," said Waters. Bryson. That was the name of the suspect. "Get him talking. We're hoping this doesn't take more than a few weeks. Just be friendly with him."

Friendly. Right. She could be friendly.

"We've issued you a new phone and a car. It's a beater, but it'll do its job. Your apartment is clean and secure. All the address information is in the phone notes and also programmed into the GPS."

Waters handed over an inexpensive-looking purse, and inside Jade found a fairly nice cellphone, a key chain, and several other miscellaneous effects like a pocket mirror and lipstick.

"In the apartment, you will find a whole new wardrobe. Most of the outfits...aren't exactly conservative, I'm afraid. We want you to keep his interest."

Fair enough. "I'm not that conservative myself," said Jade. "You could probably tell from my outfit in our, er, last meeting."

Jacobson actually snorted.

"This is your cover." Waters handed Jade a folder. "Read it. Study it. And destroy it once you’re done. You'll find a paper shredder at your apartment."

Jade nodded dazedly. This was a lot to take in.

"Ready to head to the diner, Miss Peters.”

Peters. That was her new alias. "Yes," she said, even though she wasn't quite sure.

And so her new life began.

Comments

I think you're right. I didn't like the original idea for this story so made a bit of a digression.
