Currently finishing the script for part 2, if this video isn't complete and on YouTube by the second week of December I'm going to start tearing down my walls, I have been haunted by Onceuponatime Season 5 for so long now.

Nobody notices and says “Hey, you need help” except for Emma, and they both think her little healing touch right there fixed it. And they have every reason to think this; no one ever mentioned a wound from the sword being unhealable, and since Emma possessed all of the dark magic in the multiverse, there was no reason to think her trick wouldn’t be the end of it. But at the most opportune moment, when everyone was gathered around to see her unite Excalibur with the Dagger in order to eradicate the Darkness, he collapses in pain and we see his wound reopened. Now, witnessing this, we have Regina, the former Evil Queen; Belle, arguably the smartest fairy tale character; Henry, the gosh-darn Author; Emma, the Dark One (meaning she’s possessed by ALL the evil magic); and Merlin himself, the most powerful sorcerer anywhere, ever. But still, not one person has a solution that would save Hook’s life.

I remember this arc happening in real time and I saw some episodes but I didn't watch it close enough to follow any of the plot --- all I knew was that Emma was the Dark One and that something was messed up in Camelot. The Dark Trio (?) of 4b arc was actually the first recap I got to watch of an arc I apparently watched very little of, or at least remember very little of, but so far *37 min in* this one is way more fun. Also, super happy to see Boyd again! Boyd, you escaped from Derek to become a Knight and we're totally ignoring the murdered by Cora eventually part. Yay for Boyd. Two questions: 1. I have absolutely never heard of 5b arc. I'm sorry, HADES? Does he have blue flame hair? 2. Haley have you thought about trying to actually construct a working timeline of what chronological order the flashbacks take place in?

2024-12-06 19:30:33 +0000 UTCsomeone i believe (my memory is tricking me, i have to rewatch 5x09) specifically says something along the lines of "why did you think your true love's kiss didn't work" so yes, him being the dark one rendered the kiss useless. you can't put out a fire while being on fire yourself. it was a foreshadowing (a poor one, i would rather see hook awake at random times at night wondering why he couldn't sleep or healing some minor scratches in record time)

For me it was an assassination of character development for Emma, for Hook, for their relationship and I wasn't even that invested in Emma/Hook relationship in the first place. 2024-12-03 00:30:49 +0000 UTCthis is a question ive had for almost 10 years. when killian kissed emma. if SPOILERS if they have true love which it's confirmed later that they do, why doesnt the kiss break her dark one curse? it doesnt make sense to me for it to be because emma doesnt believe she's cursed. Rumple viewed being the dark one as a good thing, too. and yet when Belle kissed him the curse started to lift (idk why it only went partway and they wouldve had to keep kissing, that's a whole nother discussion.) Sleeping curses are broken by true love's kiss no less than 3 times, which render the cursed person unable to have an opinion about whether the curse needs broken. am i forgetting an instance once Killian is revealed to be a second dark one, in which someone calls out that this is the true explanation for why their kiss didnt work? it just kinda... canceled itself out? who knows

2024-11-27 13:38:44 +0000 UTCnow that i think about it maybe hook didn't know that he's the dark one because of the dark curse. the curse isn't just a memory wipe+portal, it can give you a whole new personality. so technically he was cursed properly most likely because it would be hella awkward if he didn't sleep the entire time he was in storybrooke with no explanation. i would be concerned at least. i still imagine he didn't but was convinced that him not being able to sleep is normal behavior

It's like watching a kid mix together colours for the first time, and at first they're figuring out the combinations and it's kinda cool, but then they keep adding and mixing and slowly, but inevitably, they create sludge grey. So I guess what I'm saying is these videos are a version of those colour matching guys, masterfully discerning exactly what combination got us here? This metaphor may not have logical consistency but hey neither does the show.

I do kind of adore dark one hook bc the moment he goes full evil you can TELL how much fun the actor was having and it made the scenes really fun to watch for me. The merida stuff was so pointless though why is she here . I was just fully obsessed w hook in this season especially in the beginning bc of how annoyed he is with literally everyone its so entertaining. I originally watched the season when it aired back in middle school and all i remembered was the scene of emma being forced to kill hook. I am SHOCKED that people dont like the underworld arc though, the orpheus and eurydice stuff made me absolutely insane upon rewatch, AND AND AND *THAT* scene when they enter the underworld??? FUCKKKK that stuff is so good. also i love how many guys they just being back for shits and giggles. dont get me started on the mayor of the underworld though. we dont talk about that, everyone else is funny though. like yes of course lets put peter pan in a silly little suit.

The first was Rumple and Ashley at the ball and the second time was the scene where Zelena stole Meridas bow. Without any context I was absolutely perplexed why there was a live action Merida and why she had beef with a witch and some knight - hilarious. Anyway as much as I love Zelena please never stop dragging her for filth it's the funniest shit ever

2024-11-25 13:45:08 +0000 UTCalso idk if i realized this when i first watched the show, but nimue's mistake here was definitely the fact that she projected her own fears onto emma, or assumed that would be emma's deepest fear as well. meanwhile emma has already moved past that lie when her childhood in an unknown number of foster homes tried to force her to believe it- or at least, she's currently winning her fight against that lie. more on that in season six.

2024-11-25 09:05:55 +0000 UTCThis was the last arc of OUAT that my mom and I watched, back in the day when it aired, and it’s just as bonkers as I remembered. lol I didn’t remember any details of this season clearly, apart from: - Hook was secretly a Dark One, with no memory of it - Merlin was involved with the creation of the Dark One, via Nimue - Camelot was involved somehow - Yet another dark curse was cast - Merida from Brave was there - Henry had a crush on a girl and it was awkward The rest was just a hazy memory that radiated pure OUAT batshittery. I vaguely remembered liking it, but still finding it just a bit much. lol 😅 I very much look forward to part two, for the Underworld arc, because it will finally be a recap of an arc I never watched before, and I’m looking forward to finding out what craziness I missed out on! 😁

Loved the vid as always!!! (Also love the dedication to not covering up Will, Anton, and Ashley by just going outside of the board. They are wonderful and it will be a sad day when they get covered)
