My guess is that Tef (or whoever is running the account now) is going to ride this into November when the funding model changes to a flat fee for all Patrons. I’m 50-50 if they continue after that point.

Everyone should have limited their subscription to one charge per month if you’re offended by Tefler charging for multiple precharges despite delivering perhaps 1/3 chapter a month on average. We all hope Tefler will write more, and I believe on rare occasion he will, but the averages hold pretty steady. He only had one precharge last month so I’m sure he will do two this month.

Just so you know - I've got down this path with patreon before. They are extremely careful to absolve themselves of any responsibility when it comes to creators and the content they produce. Their response will inevitably boil down to: "if you don't like what the creator is doing, don't support them. It doesn't matter to them that Tefler has been paid in advance. The terms and conditions ensure that any financial transaction between patrons and creators are exclusivity the patrons responsibility. They will not police any creator unless they break the law or the t&c's of the site itself (which is very difficult to do given the wording).

I again read chapter 100. 28 pages. Great battles, dire risks to the characters, and they each rise to the challenges. Everybody gets writer's block sometimes. I hate to see you demean yourself with these excuses, though true they may be. I am OK paying a dollar a month for my hope you will write again. Rachel's ability to heal alone gives me something to dream of as age comes creeping. As the story becomes more complex you have to accommodate more history in your plot points. This, I think, is why Jim Butcher is taking so long with each subsequent book. Maybe try some simple little action based short story to loosen up a bit. Nobody is starving to send you money. People are frustrated because they VALUE WHAT YOU WRITE. People need escape and wish fulfillment. That is the essence of good fiction, IMHO. Take a breath. Get a night's sleep, and CREATE.

I don't really know if there was anywhere else for that story to go...ultimately! There were still a few ends left to be tied up but it basically felt as though he had started reaching a little...I would love to have found out about the end of the last battle they were in against the Arhtai Pack, and how the reanimation of Kelia Kirek ultimately played out. Also, a little bit more of Revia, not Matron Reva, but Revia Mahanlo, who sounds like she was the Mahanlo version of Aphrodite herself!!!...man! But that was a grand and epic story!! Vampires, elves, dragons, Loup-Garou, and so many others...

Cropo's, Dragons of the blood saga was a masterpiece and it is a shame no one picked up the unfinished work and attempted to finish it. At least there was a good excuse for the story to suddenly stop (the author died)

Sometimes, a distraction that ties back into your main project can provide the mental stimulation needed bringing things back in perspective. In this case, Tefler needs to produce content. If he can breathe life back into some of these loose ends, and use them to eat into his backlog, he could get back to charging for chapters instead of promises. Whatever it takes to keep the story channel alive. I really don’t want to see this Patreon channel get canceled.

To Stephen Poole- I did this before answering you. When you first sign in you see the 189 placeholder, just start scrolling down the page and the other post from tefler show up. Keep going, you will have to hit the load more button 6 or 7 times to get all the way to 145 but you can download the completed chapters that way. Hope this helps.

Tef began posting his TSM story on a couple of free sites (2016) and back then he dropped an average of 3 to 4 chapters a month ... then slowly over 2018 to 2019 it became once or twice per month, ... He began to write for fans on a pay site, ... then in 2022 it slowed on the free sites to only a few chapters that year then, only a couple chapters in all of 2023 on the free sites, ... by then most of his efforts went into the Patreon chapters, and that was when he really began his 'stuck in his EOM rut', And he has ignored to free sites for a few years now, ... sad that he forgot his first fan sites really, ... -- yet his fans remember that he could write several chapters per month back when the story was less complex, ... and he recalls it too, ... that is why he tends to promise more than he delivers, he knows that he once could do it, ,,, the question is, can he get back to that level and start to wipe out the placeholder's debt ... ;-) ttfn

Honest question. Has Tefler ever published a chapter in the first two weeks of a month? I know he sometimes completes a chapter early in the following month. Something every two weeks would be nice, but I think he tends to write X amount, then spends his time editing and rewriting again and again. That tends to mean no matter how much or little he’s produced, we won’t see anything until the end of the month.

Looking at the data, his highest subscriber count was back in May 2022 when he had 4,692 subscribers and was getting $8,579 per chapter... On March of 2024 he had dropped down to 4,593 and was getting $8,140 per chapter... In the past year, as of Feb 2025, he has dropped down to 4,169 subscribers and got $6,602 per "chapter/placeholder" So in the last year (March 2024 - Feb 2025) he has lost 424 subscribers and his take has dropped $1,537 per "chapter/placeholder" These values were taken at the peak for that month, so it has nothing to do with the normal monthly drop off as expressed above by Rus...

Side arcs would be tied in to the main story later. What’s going on with the Brimorians and the Abandoned? Are Tamolith and the Kintark going to be relevant? What’s happening with Faye & the collective? Tom Walker & the Maliri Hackers need to be linked, the Galkiran fleets are just floating in space and Valeria needs to wake up, and then there’s Edraelle, Luna and Genthalas, not to mention the Maliri males. So any opportunities to get his creative mind back to work and breathe life back into the story. Maybe ‘side-arcs’ was the wrong descriptor?

I don't think Telfer will ever get caught up. He's set himself up for failure from the beginning, 70 plus pages per chapter is outstanding but it has proven an unrealistic and unattainable goal. A more realistic goal would be around 30-40 pages per chapter. You've got a great story and there's a lot happening in your universe, but you keep digging your hole deeper and you're not putting anything back in it. I'm afraid you're going to get frustrated and give it up and you've got a never-ending story here. I'll be happy to get smaller chapters if I can get 1 or 2 a month and when you're caught up and out of this hole, you're digging I'll happily increase my membership. Just my thoughts.

I stopped my membership January of last year and have been reupping only after tefler actually put a complete chapter out. I was able over time to get the chapters I was owed doing this. Then I would drop my membership near the end of the month when it was clear Tefler was going to charge me again and not produce a chapter. I just signed up again and am current on chapters.

Not while we are all still contributing to your laziness and lack of concern about stoppage of income, because you know we have to be subscribed to get the now 16 back logged chapters we've paid for but you haven't delivered. It seems funny that you don't respond to any of our complaints. You're probably just setting back laughing at all of us. You are starting to act like the villains in your story that just sit back and do nothing for themselves but take all the glory. I'm dropping my involvement to the lowest level, so I case you decide to get off your arse and catch up I will be able to read them. I really hope your not doing this on purpose

Only the last 6 months... I'm going to create one placeholder this month. I'll do my best to get as many chapters written in March as possible to start making inroads into the backlog. I'll try to keep you up to date with regular updates in February, and make some serious inroads into the backlog. I'm hoping to be able to finish at least 3 chapters in February, as I've already planned out all the scenes for the upcoming part of the story. She'll be on leave for most of December, and doing all the school runs, so I'll finally be able to knuckle down and start clearing the backlog. My plan is to finish 172 in the next couple of days, then write the next two chapters, one of which will be a Christmas themed chapter before the 25th. Then I'll start work on 175 before the New Year. I will try to keep you updated in December with weekly status posts, so you can follow my progress with the chapters. As I haven't got anything scheduled for November, I'm hoping I can deliver more chapters to you this month. I know you're all beyond weary of the placeholders, so I'll try to get as many chapters as possible completed in October My apologies again, but I hope to make some serious headway into the backlog in September.
