Jesse Ventura (Blain) was elected governor of Minnesota a few years before Arnold ran for office in California. *The jokester Hawkins was played by Shane Black, who went on to become a writer and director with a considerable body of work, including scripts for Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, and Last Action Hero. He wrote & directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3, and The Predator, the 2018 installment in the franchise.
