Like good Trek, this can be watched over and over again. Still fun each time. Tony Shalhoub is known for his role in Monk in the '00s; always a pleasure to see him act. He was also a squirrely alien in MIB on earth who ran a pawn shop/jewelry store and kept getting his head blown off and regrowing it.

The referencing of Star Trek TOS is much overstated and it is not necessary to enjoy the movie. Actually most of the references are from other sources, including, Dr. Who, The Next Generation, Marvel, especially Thor and The Thing, even Laurel and Hardy. What appeals to me is the affectionate treatment of the fans with their cosplay, despite their annoying fanaticism. They save the world in the end. The fans and the Termians (Great moves bfw bunny!) stand out in a story with minimal character arcs for the main cast. I appreciate the details. Giving the navigator, Tommy, a control stick and a throttle makes more sense than entering commands on a keyboard. Also the ship has got a nice design, with warp drive configuration. Rickman and Weaver take their roles seriously, Allen not so much but he doesn't try a Shatner speech(!), while handling the fight moves in a very cool Shatnerian way. Great movie experience with bunny. Good night and thank you.
