The Flight of the Phoenix (1965) - Full Reaction

Oh crap! This is late, sorry! Meant to post it yesterday!

As usual, you will need your own copy of the movie to follow along!

The Flight of the Phoenix (1965) - Full Reaction

Yeah, I would not have minded the movie being a bit longer to show a bit more of the characters at the end!

It's a joy to watch some of these less popular choices for a movie reaction. This was so cool to see!

Hope you enjoyed it!

Thanks, I'll add it to my list!

A very strange choice for a watch along. I hadn’t seen it for a long time. I absolutely dig seeing it again with so many familiar actors, but it’s pretty damn grim. Very glad you enjoyed this 142 minute movie. Made me appreciate it even more. My dad was a professional pilot. They are an arrogant bunch, but also they deal with plenty of life and death pressure. Often, they can’t second guess themselves, they just have to act on instinct. Glad you enjoyed it, it’s a great flick, but now I’m gonna watch Tribbles with you again!

Oh wow you really did Flight Of The Phoenix. Such a classic. I'll have to watch it after this week's Star Trek.

A great reaction to a great movie! Another great movie with Richerd Attenborough you should check out is "The Great Escape"!

I'm not going to complain, you are great as always reacting to this film. The Flight of the Phoenix is a good movie with terrific acting. A better storyline, and more plausible, is in the movie Alive, about the crash and self-rescue of the Uruguayan soccer team in the Andes. This movie for me boils down to one thing, which they pointedly avoided referring to; seeing Colonel Jimmy Stewart in the cockpit. He flew B24 Liberators for the Eighth Air force in World War Two over Germany. Here he's such a great, experienced actor that he balances the critical role his character has in the movie while allowing the other actors to shine, really conceding the core of the movie. Attenborough, Finch, and Kruger work incredibly well together, along with Kennedy's smile and Borgnine's childishness, first as optimism and then tragic despair.

I have really enjoyed hearing your additional thoughts, which were not part of the movie night. Some reasons why this is one of my favourite movies are the characters/cast and the dialog - especially in all scenes between Frank, Lew and Heinrich. That scene with Lew breaking down just gives me goosebumps I also love the the music and the make up. The credits at the start of the movie were also always very memorable to me. And the scene with the bodies of Captain Harris and Dr Renaud always shook me as a kid :D

Markus Ruoff

Enjoyed this film over the years. It's only flaw, I believe, is the ending scenes failed to give the survivors acknowledgement and respect for their ingenuity and a remembrance for those left behind in the desert.

Nice choice and a classic cast. Thank You.
