Update on our situation
Added 2021-02-13 23:19:52 +0000 UTCHello again everyone. I just wanted to give you guys an update on how my mother and I are currently doing. But first I want to start out be expressing my deepest, undying gratitude to those who have reached out with emotional and financial help. My mother and I...I mean, we've just been floored by everyone's generosity and support. We are so touched, so moved by everything. It's been a real reminder to us that despite the current dark state of the world, all the online fighting and bickering, people are still largely good deep down.
In terms of...recovery. We've managed to cobble together a framework to build off of in terms of the essentials. I've got my drivers license again, as well as access to my bank and crucial accounts online. With the help of Red Cross, and the local community we've have food and shelter for the immediate future while we figure out a larger plan, and where we're going in terms of something more permanent. I've touched base with my renters insurance...but I've been holding off itemizing what was in the apartment because...I know that's going to break me probably. Even so, while I'm greatful for having the renters insurance, the max payout is not nearly enough to cover everything we lost. Still, I'm not sure how much replacing we'll actually be doing in the long run. Again, I can't...it's hard to think of...planning for furniture and those sort of needs when we don't have a place to base that on.
My mother is stable for the moment, health wise she seems to be at least...okay. We've both improved emotionally just be being reunited after she was in the hospital for three days, and I wasn't allowed to visit. As for me...So far I'm getting by as well. I'm in some pain of course...and my hand feels a bit worse than it did. I'm currently keeping an eye on it to make sure it's not infected.
As for the weekend, I'll mostly be attending to digital stuff...and admittedly trying to rest... I haven't exactly been able to sit still since leaving the hospital on Monday, so...I'm really beat.
