I had a wonderful time painting up Wen Li .
She is a phenomenal Chinese model living here in SoCal. Painting a dragon on her definitely seemed obvious to me. It's been done a lot over the years, so I tried to bring a new spin to it. Instead of painting red and gold, I used sky blue, white, and gold. And instead of just fully rendering a dragon, I attempted the one brush stroke dragon style that eastern artists have mastered.
It was so much fun I painted FOUR dragons, Larry, Curly, Moe, and Shemp!
I just love the simplicity of this style, and how representational it ends up. I want to paint more!
The sword is also a Chinese Sabre (Dao). I went on a little journey trying to find the right sword, and learned a lot about proper handling. Before this shoot, I wasn't that interested in swords, but now I'm kind of a basic collector :) I pity the fool that tries to mess with me.
It's awesome what happens when you place yourself in the unknown.
