True story … during Covid when everyone else was making sourdough bread, I decided to learn a little Mandarin. My online YouTube instructors were Andy & Sarah (@askAndy) who teach Mandarin through a popular song & story method. https://youtu.be/FU7_gUlWqSQ?si=ZepM6okZIusb7m7P I struggled through learning the lyrics to “The Moon Represents My Heart”. And then along comes Moonlight Chicken … fate? I ask you.

2025-07-12 19:29:11 +0000 UTCI love both of these videos and both of these songs. Each one is beautifully sung and so meaningful in the context of the series. One fascinating thing about The Moon Represents My Heart is that they are all singing it in Chinese, which is not the native language of any of them. Comments I have seen from people who know Chinese have said they sing the language very well. Also, I think Ford has one of the most beautiful voices of any of the Thai actors who can sing, and this song plays to all of the strengths of his voice. Incidentally, he also sings the theme song to the currently running series Memoirs of Rati, and again sings it beautifully.
