I referenced Frazetta’s painting for mine too! I really think the arrows and sword add a lot more context to this one, like they genuinely fought death but lost

That painting was apparently enough to get someone to write a book just so they could have it as a cover. Makes me also think of old school Robert E Howard Conan. Which is always a good thing, in my book.
