Honkai: Star Rail. Getting chased by players! [3]
Added 2024-10-17 16:02:00 +0000 UTCCava felt a chill run down his spine, followed by a strange, unknown power surging into his body, making him feel tingly all over, like he had just undergone electric therapy.
It seemed that the system had successfully transferred the stats from his character card onto his own body.
He looked at his hands, which didn’t quite feel real. Cava felt incredibly light, and the power of vitality coursed through his body.
“So... this is the power of the Path?”
Cava murmured as arcs of electricity danced across his hands.
A few minutes later, time, which had been frozen by the system, resumed its flow. Everyone on the train returned to their previous activities, completely unaware that time had ever paused.
Through the carriage window, Cava watched as the train slowly pulled into the deserted platform, feeling a sense of unreality deep inside.
He... had truly entered the world of Honkai: Star Rail... and now possessed the power of the "Abundance" path.
“Dear passengers, we have arrived at Herta Space Station! The train will remain docked for one week. You are free to disembark and explore, pa!”
In the hall, March 7th was already standing eagerly at the carriage exit, waiting. This long interstellar journey had practically driven her crazy with cabin fever!
“I’ll stay on the train to take care of a few things.”
Welt pushed his glasses up as he spoke.
“Passenger Himeko! Here’s the shopping list, pa!”
The cute train conductor handed Himeko the list. Because Pom-Pom couldn’t leave the train, shopping had to be left to the other passengers.
“Alright, Cava, why don’t you come with us?”
Himeko nodded, ruffling Pom-Pom’s head as he gave her a proud look, and then called out to Cava, who still hadn’t fully recovered from his immersion in the power of "Abundance."
“Ah... oh! Sure!”
Hearing Himeko’s voice snapped Cava out of his reverie, and he quickly followed her toward the exit.
As Cava walked out of the carriage, Welt frowned slightly, watching him.
“Abundance...”
At the same time, Cava, just stepping off the train, also frowned.
That familiar system voice appeared again, and this time...
“Honkai: Star Rail, launch begins!”
...
In Reality
At 10 o’clock sharp, countless players eagerly waiting for Honkai: Star Rail to go live clicked the "Enter Game" button, ready to embark on their own “space adventure.”
For those who couldn’t jump in right away due to work, they took whatever break they could to watch streamers across various platforms play, immersing themselves in the “space drama.”
This time, there was no announcement blocking them from entering the game. Although there was a 200MB update, in this age of 5G internet, such a small patch didn’t even take ten seconds to download, and players hardly noticed it.
To them, 200MB was nothing. Getting into the game was what really mattered!
Little did they know, that small 200MB patch could introduce a world of changes to their "Trailblazing" journey...
...
“Ahh! Finally back at the space station! I can finally stretch my legs after being stuck on the train for days!”
March 7th bounded off the Astral Express, hopping to the edge of the platform, taking in deep breaths of the station’s artificial air. She stretched out with a satisfied sigh, revealing a glimpse of her pale thighs.
“Yeah, it’s been a while since we were last here. We’ve got a long shopping list, and it looks like we’ll need to visit Asta.”
Himeko rubbed her temples, staring at the supply list written by Pom-Pom with a bit of a headache.
This Trailblazing journey had gone on for far too long. The train’s supplies were nearly depleted—she barely had any coffee left...
“Cava, this is your first time at the space station, right?”
Himeko smiled at Cava, who was looking around curiously, like an excited child.
“Uh... yeah, it is.”
Feeling a little embarrassed about his eagerness, Cava scratched the back of his head as he smiled sheepishly at Himeko.
No matter how many times he had “visited” in videos and guides, it didn’t compare to seeing this massive space station with his own eyes. And now, he wasn’t just viewing it through a computer screen—he was really here, walking around in the game!
“Don’t worry about it. When little March first came here, she was way more shocked than you.”
Himeko grinned.
“Hey! No, I wasn’t, Himeko!”
Still busy placing orders on her phone, March 7th puffed up her cheeks like a pufferfish, pouting in protest.
“I was sealed in ice for so long—it’s totally normal to be surprised, right?!”
As she spoke, March 7th nudged Dan Heng lightly with her elbow, as if seeking his support.
Dan Heng didn’t reply immediately. His face had turned serious as he stared at the space station’s interior.
“Huh? Dan Heng, what’s wrong?”
March 7th asked curiously, noticing his troubled expression.
“Something’s not right about the space station.”
Dan Heng frowned, his eyes scanning the empty platform. Normally, there should have been plenty of staff around. And with the Astral Express returning, someone should have been here to greet them...
But ever since they arrived at the station, they hadn’t seen a single person. Even the conductor had mentioned earlier that no docking notification had been sent.
Though the Astral Express had a designated platform, there should have at least been some form of communication, right?
Himeko also realized the gravity of the situation. Normally, she would receive a notification from the Herta Space Station upon arrival, but this time, her phone’s last message was still from March 7th, inviting her for afternoon tea...
She quickly sent a message to Asta.
[Asta]
Himeko: “Asta?”
[Error sending message: Network error]
Even March 7th noticed something was off. The space station’s shopping website wouldn’t load, and her phone had no signal at all.
“It seems the station is experiencing some issues. Cava, head back to the train. I’ll go find Asta. Dan Heng, you and March 7th investigate what’s going on at the station. Maybe you’ll be able to help.”
Himeko instructed.
March 7th and Dan Heng nodded, drawing their weapons and preparing to head into the station from Platform 1.
“Himeko, can I go with Dan Heng and March?”
Cava stepped forward, volunteering. If this had happened before the system appeared, he might have listened to Himeko and stayed in the safety of the train. But now things were different! He had embraced the Path of Abundance and had some self-defense capabilities.
More importantly, if he didn’t go with them, he might miss his first encounter with the players—a golden opportunity to boost his reputation!
“Well...”
Himeko hesitated. Though she could sense that Cava wasn’t some ordinary person, after the crash, this child...
“Don’t worry, Himeko. I won’t slow everyone down...”
Seeing the concern in her eyes, Cava felt touched. After all, they had only known each other for a week, yet Himeko already treated him like one of their own. It made him feel warm inside.
Cava smiled and held out his hand. A small electric needle, formed from arcs of electricity, hovered quietly above his palm.
Dan Heng looked surprised at the sight of the electric needle, while March 7th confidently patted her chest and reassured Himeko.
“Don’t worry, Himeko! We’ll protect Cava! Right, Dan Heng?”
Dan Heng sighed slightly, shaking his head in mild exasperation, but then nodded to Himeko.
“In that case... Cava, you can go with March 7th and Dan Heng. But... be careful.”
“Got it! You be careful too, Himeko!”
Himeko headed toward Platform 2, while Cava, March 7th, and Dan Heng set off toward Platform 1.
Cava glanced at his system screen, feeling reassured by the healing abilities and high base health it displayed.
With such abundant healing power! Forget about getting injured—he could guarantee they’d all leave in perfect condition, well-fed and ready to go!
