Playing Genshin in Genshin! [20]

---

The answer was—yes!

He could indeed store real-world items directly into the in-game backpack, and whether he was putting them in or taking them out, there was no conversion rate involved.

After discovering this feature, Lu Shiyuan no longer had to worry about packing for his trip. He could bring whatever he wanted. Once all his belongings were neatly stored in his game backpack, he eagerly started exploring other game functions.

“If a simple game backpack has so many uses, what about the other features? Could they also affect reality?” he wondered, feeling curious.

Unfortunately, the monthly passes required Chinese currency to activate, and since he was in Teyvat, he had no way of acquiring that currency. So, those features would just have to sit there for now.

But soon enough, his attention turned to the gacha (wish) system. For the past few days, he had been focused on progressing the main story and training himself, and hadn’t yet tried his hand at wishing. He had already accumulated plenty of Primogems and Acquaint Fates.

Opening the wish menu, he entered the beginner's banner, where Noelle’s image tempted him. After checking his number of Acquaint Fates, Lu Shiyuan went for a ten-pull without hesitation!

Eight Acquaint Fates were consumed, and the screen changed to show ten stars falling from the high clouds, with the leading star glowing a radiant purple.

Though he knew a four-star item was guaranteed, Lu Shiyuan couldn’t help but feel excited. On one hand, he was thrilled at getting a new character to play with, but on the other, he was eager to see if the wishing system would have any effect on reality.

As the stars landed and the results were revealed:

First wish: Bloodtainted Greatsword
Second wish: Noelle
Third wish: Cool Steel

Ninth wish: Black Tassel
Tenth wish: Noelle

Character: Noelle
Vision: Geo
Weapon: Claymore
Elemental Skill: Breastplate
Effect: Summons a protective shield, dealing Geo damage to nearby enemies and creating a shield that absorbs damage. While the shield is active, Noelle's normal and charged attacks have a chance to heal all party members.

Elemental Burst: Sweeping Time
Effect: Gathers the power of rocks, striking nearby enemies with a wide-area attack, dealing Geo damage and crystallizing effects. For a certain duration, Noelle’s attack range increases, and her damage is converted to Geo.

Constellation: Parma Cordis
First Level: I Got Your Back
Effect: When both Sweeping Time and Breastplate are active, normal and charged attacks always trigger the healing effect of Breastplate.

“Two Noelles in a ten-pull? Not bad,” Lu Shiyuan muttered as he closed the wish screen, though he felt a bit unsatisfied. "It doesn’t seem like anything has changed in the real world."

Still, out of habit, he upgraded Noelle’s constellation.

As he lit up the first star on her constellation, a burst of knowledge flooded Lu Shiyuan’s mind.

In that instant, he understood!

“If I…,” he murmured, “if I learn to use a claymore and master the Elemental Skill Breastplate and the Elemental Burst Sweeping Time, I’ll definitely be able to trigger the healing effect of Breastplate.”

But moments later, frustration overtook him. He shot up from his seat and angrily tossed his phone onto the floor. The loud thud echoed through the room, though the phone remained undamaged, as sturdy as ever.

After calming down a little, he picked up the phone and sighed. “So, the wish system gives me knowledge when I unlock a constellation star?”

"Basically, if I unlock a character’s constellations, I learn the abilities associated with that constellation. But the problem is... prerequisites! I don’t have a Geo Vision or know the character's skills, so what’s the point of learning the constellation’s effects?"

After venting his frustration for a while, Lu Shiyuan eventually relaxed. "Fine. I was only trying this out of curiosity, anyway. It’s still cool that I can learn valuable skills from playing the game. Maybe if I keep progressing, I’ll actually find a way to use these abilities."

After this realization, Lu Shiyuan resumed grinding materials and leveling up his character. Later, he relaxed by watching some shows in bed.

As night fell, Lu Qianzhi returned from work at Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, and Lu Shiyuan told her about his plans to travel to Mondstadt.

At first, his sister was worried, but upon hearing that Xiangling would be going with him, she nodded in approval.

“Just make sure you write to me after you arrive in Mondstadt,” Lu Qianzhi reminded him before sighing with a hint of regret. "It’s a shame I’m so busy with work right now, and I’ve already planned a trip with Keqing. Otherwise, I’d love to join you."

Lu Shiyuan smiled. “Next time, it’ll be just the two of us going to Mondstadt. But this time, I have some business to take care of. You wouldn’t have any time to enjoy yourself if you came along.”

He wasn’t lying. If Mondstadt was really in the midst of a dragon disaster, the city wouldn’t exactly be an ideal vacation spot.

“Oh,” his sister responded softly.

...

The Next Morning

Xiangling stood at the Lu family’s door, shouting loudly to wake Lu Shiyuan. With everything already packed, he quickly got ready and stepped outside.

Seeing him with empty hands, Xiangling looked puzzled. “Brother Lu, we’re traveling abroad. Shouldn’t you bring some luggage?”

“Hmph,” Lu Shiyuan waved his sleeves grandly and lifted his chin, posing like a sage. “I’ve mastered a technique known as Universe in My Sleeve. All of my luggage is stored within my robes.”

“...Brother Lu, have you been listening to too many stories lately?” Xiangling gave him a bewildered look.

“You don’t understand, kid. I said I’ve packed, so I’ve packed,” Lu Shiyuan jumped off the porch, grumbling. “Let’s get going already.”

“Oh.” Xiangling, adjusting the pots, pans, and spices she had strapped to her back, obediently followed behind him. "This trip is different from the others. I’ve brought everything we’ll need. I’ll make sure to keep Brother Lu well-fed and healthy," she thought.

Even Guoba, her trusty companion, hopped along behind them, also carrying a small pack. And so, the group set off.

They traveled through mountains and across rivers, collecting rare ingredients along the way as they headed toward Mondstadt.

Naturally, Xiangling handled all the logistics—cooking, setting up camp, and gathering supplies—while Lu Shiyuan focused on eating, sleeping, and answering any questions she had.

Though Lu Shiyuan didn’t know everything, he had his phone, which stored a wealth of Earth’s knowledge. If he didn’t know something, a quick search would give him the answer.

Of course, Lu Shiyuan wasn’t completely lazy either. He was diligently playing the game, leveling up his adventure rank at a rapid pace. Within just two or three days, he had unlocked more of Liyue’s map.

Whenever there was nothing left to do in the game, he would contemplate the mountains and rivers, and the flashes of lightning, hoping to grasp his own elemental skills and bursts. Slowly but surely, he began to make progress.

Finally, after two days and nights, they arrived at Mondstadt.
