The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [49]

Although the plan to summon the Stormterror with the Holy Lyre had failed, it brought clarity to their next steps.

No one said it aloud, but everyone understood: the next time they encountered the Stormterror, it would be a direct battle against his rage.

Jia Changjiang stood atop Starsnatch Cliff, gathering the chains he’d brought with him. He had come fully prepared to fight Dvalin.

In fact, he’d nearly emptied his Mora pouch for this. Half of it had gone into forging the colossal bow he now carried.

The bow had been crafted by Wagner, Mondstadt’s most skilled blacksmith. When Jia Changjiang had requested it, Wagner had expressed concern.

“A bow like this? No ordinary person could ever draw it.”

But Jia Changjiang’s determination silenced any objections, and Wagner had completed the intimidating hunting bow. He’d even fashioned special arrows tipped with high-denomination Mora at Jia Changjiang’s insistence.

Oddly, when Jia Changjiang successfully drew the bow during testing, Wagner wasn’t too surprised. It was almost as if he’d seen something like this before.

The chains, meanwhile, had been intended to drag Dvalin down from the skies—a plan that ultimately wasn’t needed.

“Mr. Jax... are you really planning to fight Dvalin?” Paimon asked hesitantly as she watched him put away his equipment.

“Hmm? Didn’t I already fight Dvalin once in Mondstadt City? This isn’t about planning—it’s just what needs to be done.”

“No, no!” Paimon waved her arms frantically. “I mean, earlier, you sounded like you wanted to fight him to the death!”

She paused, then added, “Also, the bard turns out to be Barbatos! ...Isn’t it bad to call the Anemo Archon such a casual nickname?”

Lumine thought for a moment before saying, “With Venti’s personality, I doubt he cares about things like that.”

“Jia Changjiang, did you already know that Venti is Barbatos?” Lumine asked suspiciously.

“Take a guess.” Jia Changjiang smirked, finishing his preparations. “Anyway, with Master Diluc off investigating leads, let’s head back to Mondstadt.”

He sighed dramatically. “I spent so much on this preparation that I’m practically broke. I’m half tempted to start mugging Hilichurls in the wild.”

Lumine nodded in agreement, sharing his sentiment. “Yeah, there was a time when I was so hungry in the wilderness that I considered raiding a Hilichurl camp myself.”

“Don’t bond over something so weird!” Paimon cried out, hovering around Lumine’s ear.

---

While Diluc’s investigation took time, Mondstadt enjoyed an unusual period of calm. Stormterror seemed to have vanished, leaving the city in peace for the first time in a while.

Jean seized the opportunity to focus on Knights of Favonius business, while Amber dragged Lumine off to take her gliding exam.

As for Jia Changjiang, after completing a couple of commissions to earn some Mora, he returned to his inn to study a peculiar quest reward he’d acquired while searching for Dvalin’s Tears: Mermaid’s Tear.

According to the system description, it had the power to neutralize all poisons. Beyond that, there were no other details.

Holding the crystal-clear, pearl-like tear in his hand, Jia Changjiang frowned, deep in thought.

“Could I use this on Dvalin?” he mused. “Does the poisoned blood count as a toxin?”

Shaking his head, he tucked the tear away and decided to take a walk through Mondstadt to clear his mind and prepare for the next battle.

---

The city was lively once again, its people more relaxed without the looming threat of dragon attacks.

But as Jia Changjiang strolled through the streets, he spotted a commotion near the unloading area where merchants were handling cargo.

From a high stack of goods, a heavy sack suddenly tumbled downward, aiming directly for a petite figure below.

“?!”

Jia Changjiang’s instincts kicked in, and he started forward to intervene—only to freeze mid-step.

The petite figure casually raised a hand and caught the falling sack with ease.

The unexpected scene nearly caused Jia Changjiang to trip over his own feet.

“Is that all you need moved into the shop?”

The soft, almost gentle voice belonged to a girl dressed in a maid outfit with armor-like accents. A massive claymore rested on her back, its size a stark contrast to her small frame.

“Yes, yes! Noelle, you’re always so reliable,” a merchant praised her, his face beaming.

“It’s no problem. This was Captain Kaeya’s assignment, after all.” Noelle smiled sweetly and lifted another heavy sack with her free hand. “Leave it to me!”

Jia Changjiang stood rooted to the spot, dumbfounded.

Where did this super-strong maid come from?

“Wait a second...” His brows furrowed as recognition dawned.

“She’s called... Noelle, right? The Mondstadt Gundam from the Knights of Favonius?”

Watching her effortlessly carry the heavy sacks without breaking a sweat, Jia Changjiang couldn’t help but feel a mix of amazement and curiosity.

His interest piqued, Jia Changjiang decided to follow Noelle as she completed task after task, helping people across the city.

Each job she handled was done with perfect precision.

And her strength...

Jia Changjiang watched in awe as she single-handedly lifted a heavy cart to retrieve a toy that had rolled underneath for a small child.

What kind of strength is this? he wondered, both impressed and bewildered.

A mischievous smile crept onto his face.

She must be strong... really strong.

Unable to resist, Jia Changjiang continued trailing her as she eventually made her way to the Knights of Favonius training grounds.

“Noelle, sorry I’m late!” she called out to a girl with light brown hair who was waiting for her.

“Noelle, you’ve been helping people again, haven’t you?” the girl, Eileen, replied with a sigh. “You’re always so busy... you never leave any time to rest!”

Noelle smiled shyly. “I have to finish everything Captain Kaeya assigned first.”

“Well, let’s continue our training!”

Jia Changjiang perched himself in a good vantage point to observe as the two began their session.

Training... against wooden dummies?

Jia Changjiang raised an eyebrow.

With that kind of strength, what good is hitting wooden dummies?

Finally, he couldn’t hold back any longer.

“This is unbearable!” he muttered.

Leaping down from his perch, he landed near the training grounds and called out:

“You there! The maid and the little girl!”
