The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [53]

“A farewell banquet before the mission, huh?” Venti’s eyes lit up with excitement. “That’s a wonderful idea.”

He tilted his head playfully. “But wait, wasn’t I just suspected of being a Fatui agent? Are you sure it’s okay to bring me along?”

Jia Changjiang waved off the concern. “It’s fine. No one got a clear look at you back then. Besides, who would suspect that someone who allegedly stole the Skyward Harp would brazenly show up at an Honorary Knight’s welcome party?”

“That does make sense.” Venti chuckled, his tone bright. “Then, dear Honorary Knight, shall this world’s greatest bard perform a song for you at the banquet?”

Jia Changjiang thought for a moment. “Hmm... save it for a peaceful moment. Play when the time feels right.”

With that, the two of them entered the Knights of Favonius headquarters.

Inside, Noelle was bustling around the room, carefully arranging platters of exquisite dishes on the banquet table. Her efficient, graceful movements caught Jia Changjiang’s attention more than once.

Despite initially opposing the idea of a welcome party, he found himself enjoying it immensely.

Noelle’s culinary skills were exceptional, and the dishes she prepared were a hit. Two barrels of premium Dandelion Wine had also been brought out for the occasion.

Many knights who were usually too busy to visit the tavern took the opportunity to unwind, enjoying the wine and camaraderie.

Jia Changjiang joined in on the drinking contests, using the opportunity to connect with several of the knights.

Meanwhile, Lumine had her own plans. She aimed to sneak a few drinks herself and then feign drunkenness—perhaps to end up being carried back by Jean, Lisa, or Amber.

However, just as she approached the drinking area, Jia Changjiang intercepted her with one hand firmly pressing against her forehead, keeping her at bay.

“Underage individuals aren’t allowed to drink,” he said firmly, holding her at arm’s length while sipping from his own glass.

“I’m not underage!” Lumine protested, flailing her arms in a futile attempt to reach the wine glasses. Her arms, unfortunately, were not long enough to bridge the gap, leaving her grabbing at air.

“Looking underage is just as bad,” Jia Changjiang replied, shaking his head. “You’ll set a bad example for the kids.”

His gaze wandered to Klee, who sat in a corner happily munching on a special children’s meal prepared by Noelle.

“If you want to drink, wait until we’re somewhere private,” he said with a sigh.

“What about Venti?” Lumine retorted, pointing toward the bard.

Venti, as if on cue, was showcasing his signature talent—playing his lyre while simultaneously sipping from a wine glass he held with his teeth, earning cheers from the knights.

“You know what kind of person Venti is,” Jia Changjiang replied dryly. “At this point, what he’s doing is embarrassing enough for a god. A couple of glasses of wine won’t make it worse.”

“...Fair point,” Lumine admitted, crossing her arms. She had momentarily forgotten that Venti was, in fact, the Anemo Archon.

Despite Lumine’s foiled plan, the party carried on joyously, the lighthearted atmosphere lifting everyone’s spirits.

After the banquet ended, Jia Changjiang stood up, shaking his head to clear the lingering effects of the wine.

“Mr. Jax,” Jean approached him, her expression warm.

“Thank you for training Noelle today,” she said. “That child has always aspired to be a knight, but she still carries some lingering insecurities. That’s why she hasn’t officially joined the Knights of Favonius yet.”

Jean’s voice softened, filled with genuine care. “At this stage, I’ve been hesitant to expose her to the more dangerous missions the knights face.”

“Noelle, huh?” Jia Changjiang replied, recalling their sparring session.

“She’s incredibly strong—naturally gifted, even. Between her innate power and her Geo Vision, her combat potential is excellent."

"Aside from her youth and lack of experience, she’s got everything she needs to succeed.”

A grin spread across his face. “Give her time to grow, help her understand her strength, and address her weaknesses."

"When that day comes, I’m sure she’ll be able to give me a proper fight. I’m looking forward to it—it’s exhilarating just thinking about it!”

Jean couldn’t help but smile at his enthusiasm. “On that note, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you, Mr. Jax.”

“Oh?” Jia Changjiang raised an eyebrow.

Jean took a deep breath. “Once the Stormterror incident is resolved, would you consider serving as an instructor for the Knights of Favonius?"

"I saw how you guided Noelle and Eileen today, and I believe your expertise could benefit the knights stationed here in Mondstadt.”

Jia Changjiang turned to her, his eyes sparkling. “You want me to train the knights? Are you serious?”

His grin widened mischievously. “Does that include Kaeya?”

Jean blinked, momentarily caught off guard. “Um... I suppose it would.”

“Excellent,” Jia Changjiang said, laughing. “I’m in!”

“Really?” Jean asked, pleasantly surprised. “Thank you, Mr. Jax. That will be a tremendous help.”

A Few Days Later

Not long after the banquet, the group received word from Diluc, asking them to gather at Dawn Winery.

They wasted no time and soon assembled in front of the winery.

“I’ve uncovered some information about the Abyss Order,” Diluc began, his tone direct.

“It wasn’t easy, but I managed to find some leads.”

“As expected of Master Diluc—always efficient,” Venti quipped with a grin.

“Paimon once said that the Anemo Archon should have the best intelligence network,” Lumine teased. “Yet here we are, relying on Diluc’s sources instead.”

“Well...” Venti began, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

He cleared his throat before continuing, “The Seven Archons are officially known as the Seven Sovereigns of the Worldly Realm. Each governs their respective nation, fulfilling their divine roles to maintain balance."

"But personally, I don’t care much for ruling. And I don’t think Mondstadt would want that either.”

Jean’s voice took on a reverent tone as she added, “Barbatos once told us, ‘Build a free city-state where no king reigns.’ The people of Mondstadt have held onto that ideal ever since.”

“Hmph,” Lumine muttered under her breath. “Sounds more like someone who just doesn’t want responsibility.”

Venti coughed awkwardly, deflecting the comment. “In any case, there’s no doubt about it—I’m the weakest among the Seven Archons!”

Clap!

Jia Changjiang placed a firm hand on Venti’s shoulder.

“Weak or not, you’re still a god!” he declared, his voice brimming with excitement.

“I don’t mind who you are, Venti—you’re going to fight me someday!”

Venti could only blink in bewilderment as Jia Changjiang’s declaration echoed through the air.
