The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [52]

“Jia Changjiang!”

Lumine’s voice rang out as she entered the training grounds.

Hearing her call, Jia Changjiang paused his sparring session with Noelle and Eileen.

“Oh, it’s Lumine,” he said, turning to the newcomer.

Gesturing to the two trainees, he introduced them:

“Noelle and Eileen—Noelle’s a maid of the Knights of Favonius, and Eileen is a trainee knight. They’re both working hard to become full-fledged knights—”

Before he could finish, Lumine blurred into motion, a golden streak flashing past him. She grasped Noelle and Eileen’s hands in hers, flashing a sweet, almost-too-charming smile.

“Hello, I’m Lumine,” she said warmly. “If you ever need help with anything, feel free to ask me, okay?”

Her disarming demeanor made both Noelle and Eileen blush simultaneously, their faces turning pink.

Lumine took the opportunity to give their hands a gentle squeeze, her smile never faltering.

“Let go of them, Lumine!”

Paimon zipped forward, pulling back before colliding with Lumine in midair with a resounding thud. The impact knocked Lumine away from the two girls.

Having traveled with Lumine for so long, Paimon had an almost instinctive understanding of her mischievous tendencies.

Whatever she had been planning just now was definitely something inappropriate.

“Argh, you little busybody, Paimon,” Lumine muttered, rubbing her face with a slight pout.

“Miss Eileen, we’re here to deliver the wooden dummies for your training,” Paimon said, as if she hadn’t just tackled Lumine.

Honestly, taking care of this Traveler is a full-time job, Paimon thought. Without me, who knows what kind of trouble she’d cause?

“Weren’t you taking the gliding exam with Amber earlier?” Jia Changjiang asked Lumine.

“Why the sudden detour to deliver wooden dummies?”

“The exam ended earlier today,” Lumine replied, rubbing her face where Paimon had hit her. “We even caught a thief along the way! Amber really shone out there—she deserves her title as Mondstadt’s outrider.”

“As for the wooden dummies...” She trailed off, her expression turning slightly sheepish.

“The Traveler spent all our Mora on food,” Paimon interjected, flying up to Jia Changjiang with an exasperated sigh. “If we hadn’t completed Mr. Herman’s commission to deliver these dummies, we wouldn’t have had money for dinner!”

“Hey! You ate plenty too, Paimon! Don’t put this all on me!” Lumine shot back, folding her arms defensively.

Jia Changjiang’s mouth twitched slightly as he processed the scene before him.

A glutton... and a bit of a scoundrel, he thought, feeling at a loss for words to describe Lumine.

“What about you, Jia Changjiang?” Lumine asked, cutting through his thoughts.

She reached out to grab Paimon, who had been trying to escape her grasp, and began squishing the floating companion’s cheeks as she continued.

“Why are you here sparring with people in the training grounds?”

“It was a coincidence,” Jia Changjiang replied. “I spotted some promising talent and thought I’d help train them a bit.”

He glanced toward Noelle, his eyes gleaming. “Then, I plan to have a proper match with her.”

“Huh?” Lumine tilted her head, genuinely baffled.

Training someone to be your opponent so you can fight them later? Against a maid, no less?

What kind of logic is that, Jia Changjiang?

“Mr. Jax’s techniques are very helpful,” Noelle chimed in, her cheeks still tinged with pink. “I’m grateful for his guidance today.”

Her eyes lit up as a thought struck her. “Oh! Since you’re both Honorary Knights now, let me prepare a welcome party for you! You’re both my seniors, after all!”

“A welcome party?” Lumine’s face brightened immediately. “I love parties!”

“Let’s skip the party,” Jia Changjiang began, raising a hand in protest. “I was actually planning to head out of Mondstadt to—”

Before he could finish, Lumine leaped at him, clamping her hand over his mouth and clinging to him like a sloth.

“Traveler!” Paimon exclaimed, startled. “What are you—”

Lumine spoke quickly, cutting her off: “There’ll be lots of delicious food at the party!”

Before Jia Changjiang could protest further, Paimon joined in, latching onto his head with an emphatic nod.

“Mmph!” Jia Changjiang’s muffled complaints were indecipherable beneath the duo’s combined assault.

“What’s Mr. Jax saying?” Noelle tilted her head in confusion.

“Mr. Jax says he’ll definitely attend the party!” Lumine declared cheerfully, still clinging to him.

Paimon chimed in, nodding furiously. “Yep, he’s really looking forward to it!”

“Is that so?” Noelle beamed. “Then I’ll get started on preparations!”

As Noelle and Eileen walked away, Eileen glanced back at the odd trio, her expression conflicted.

Something about this feels... off. But I’m too tired to think about it.

I’ll just go rest for now.

“Hah...” Jia Changjiang finally pried himself free, taking a deep breath. “What are you two even doing?!”

“If you refused the party, Noelle would’ve been disappointed,” Lumine said solemnly. “Making a sweet girl like her sad is unacceptable!”

“Can you at least get off me when you’re saying that?” Jia Changjiang grumbled, exasperated. “And you too, Paimon—I’m not a tree, and you’re not a pair of koalas!”

After detaching Lumine and Paimon from his person, Jia Changjiang straightened up.

“We’re going to have to face Dvalin head-on soon,” he said seriously. “How can you be so carefree right now?”

“Because it’s not just me—you’ll be there too,” Lumine replied confidently. “And I’m really strong, you know.”

Her tone lightened as she added, “Besides, aren’t you training people here? We’ll figure things out when the time comes. Together, we’ll save Dvalin, no matter what.”

“Think of the party as a send-off banquet,” Lumine continued, her voice dropping to a mischievous whisper. “Maybe I’ll pretend to get drunk and sneak into Jean’s or Lisa’s room tonight...”

“What was that last part?” Jia Changjiang asked, frowning.

“Oh, nothing important!” Lumine replied quickly, grinning.

“You’ve got a point,” Jia Changjiang conceded with a chuckle.

“I’ll check with Jean to see if we can invite a few more people. Maybe Venti, and...” He paused, considering. “Diluc probably won’t come, but Venti should.”

Glancing at Lumine, he smiled. “The party will be lively, I’m sure of it. And you’re right—we’ll succeed in saving Dvalin. You’re strong, and so am I.”

“I still remember what you said at the cathedral,” Jia Changjiang added, his tone softening.

“You don’t want to see separation."

"And I... don’t want to see sorrow.”

He turned, striding toward the city with resolute steps, his voice carrying over his shoulder.

“Being able to laugh and celebrate with friends is the best thing in the world."

"So, no matter what—it’s all worth it.”

“I’m off to find Venti. See you at the party tonight.”
