The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [54]

“Fight me? Let’s not do that...” Venti said, feigning weakness as he strummed his lyre melodramatically. “I’m just a humble bard now. Would you really bully an unarmed poet, Jax?”

“Absolutely,” Jia Changjiang replied without hesitation. “You were the one who said it yourself: none of the Seven Archons are weak!”

“So cruel...” Venti sighed theatrically.

Lumine crossed her arms, her tone dry. “As expected of the god of freedom, huh?”

Paimon chimed in with a snicker. “I can’t decide if Barbatos lacks the dignity of a god, or if Mr. Jax just has no sense of reverence!”

“Hmph...” Diluc sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Having an archon like this—is it a blessing or a curse?”

Not one to let himself get sidetracked for too long, Diluc shifted the conversation back to the matter at hand.

“Let’s focus on the Abyss Order.”

“The Abyss Mage I found is near the winery,” Diluc said, pointing toward the location. “We can head there whenever you’re ready.”

“What element does it use?” Jia Changjiang asked.

“Ice,” Diluc replied succinctly.

Jia Changjiang took a moment to assess their group composition: one Pyro, three Anemo, and himself—a physical attacker capable of breaking shields.

His mind conjured an image of fiery explosions lighting up the unfortunate mage.

“Alright, let’s move out!” he said with a grin.

---

Diluc’s intel proved accurate. The group quickly located the Cryo Abyss Mage and wasted no time surrounding it.

Though it summoned a horde of Hilichurls to aid it, the combined efforts of Jia Changjiang and the others wiped out both the mage and its minions with ease.

The moment Diluc shattered the Abyss Mage’s elemental shield, Jia Changjiang charged in with his battle axe, cleaving through the mage’s chest and pinning it to a nearby rock wall.

It disintegrated before it could utter a single word, its form fading into nothingness.

As it vanished, a faint wisp of energy escaped its body. Venti, watching intently, stretched out his hand to catch it.

“This energy...” Venti murmured, his expression darkening.

“What is it?” Lumine asked.

Venti held the wisp in his palm, studying it closely. “This... seems to have disrupted my connection with Dvalin.”

His tone grew somber. “Jax, Lumine, do you know of the Stormterror’s Lair?”

Jia Changjiang followed Venti’s gaze to the horizon, where storm clouds churned endlessly over a distant ruin.

“You mean that place?”

“Yes,” Venti nodded. “The winds that surround the Stormterror’s Lair form an impenetrable barrier.

But this trace of energy carries a certain resonance—enough for me to breach that barrier and reach the inner sanctum.”

“So, what’s next?” Lumine asked.

Venti didn’t answer immediately, but Jia Changjiang stepped forward.

“Next, we face the Stormterror head-on, right?”

“If subduing the Stormterror is the only way...” Jean gripped her sword tightly. “Then I’ll lead the charge. It’s my duty to do so.”

“There’s no need to be so tense, Jean,” Venti said gently. “We haven’t reached that point yet. Dvalin can still be saved...

And for that, we’ll need the Traveler’s help.”

He turned to Lumine.

“I understand,” Lumine said, unsheathing her sword with a flourish.

“For Jean, Lisa, and Amber, I’ll knock that dragon flat on its face!”

“...?”

A question mark practically appeared over Venti’s head.

“You’re strong, Traveler,” he said after a moment. “But there’s another reason why we need you.

The curse afflicting Dvalin and the impurities in the Tears are the same. That’s why...”

“Hold on!” Paimon interrupted. “That’s way too dangerous! You saw how angry Dvalin was before—what if he swallows the Traveler whole before she can purify him?”

“It’ll be fine!” Lumine declared confidently.

She put her hands on her hips. “If that happens, I’ll just beat him up first and purify him later!

This kind of thing is my specialty!”

“Interesting... worth a try,” Diluc said, hefting his greatsword.

“I’ll stand with you, Honorary Knight,” Jean said, raising her sword in solidarity.

Paimon shivered, her voice trembling. “The enemies are an Abyss Order and a dragon... What an overwhelming situation!”

“Humans have their own strength,” Diluc replied firmly.

“Why waste time talking?! Let’s get to it!” Jia Changjiang exclaimed, his excitement mounting.

He raised his battle axe, pointing it toward the Stormterror’s Lair.

“Our goal is clear: challenge the dragon, defeat the dragon, save the dragon!”

“Let’s go, Mondstadt Dragon-Slaying Squad!”

Stormterror’s Lair

The group soon reached the outer edges of the Stormterror’s Lair. Before them loomed a massive barrier of wind, spinning violently and cutting off their path.

Jia Changjiang reached out curiously, only for the wind’s sheer force to slice his hand, leaving a small but noticeable wound.

“What fierce winds...” he muttered, pulling his hand back.

“This part is mine to handle,” Venti said, stepping forward and pulling out his lyre.

But before he could play a single note, a chorus of roars interrupted him. Emerging from the ruins were hordes of Hilichurls and several Mitachurl Brutes.

“Well, this is annoying,” Venti muttered, strumming his lyre experimentally.

“Everyone, get—”

Before he could finish, Jia Changjiang had already charged forward.

“Hilichurls?! Get over here and DIE!”

With one swing of his axe, a cluster of Hilichurls was sent flying, their crude weapons clattering to the ground.

“Honestly,” Diluc muttered, shaking his head as he moved to engage a Mitachurl. “His approach might actually be the most efficient.”

“Let’s clear them out quickly,” he added, slamming his greatsword into a Mitachurl’s shield with a deafening crack.

“Well, if they’re handling the cleanup,” Venti said with a smirk, plucking a note on his lyre, “I’ll focus on playing my song.”

As Venti’s melody filled the air, the group efficiently dispatched the Hilichurls. The rhythm of his tune seemed to synchronize perfectly with their movements, adding an almost poetic flair to the battle.

When the last Hilichurl fell, the storm barrier began to dissipate, its winds scattering in harmony with the lyre’s fading notes.

“We’re back here again...” Venti murmured, running a hand along his lyre. His gaze turned wistful as he looked toward the ruins.

“This time, once again... it’s all for freedom.
