The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [60]

Jia Changjiang pushed the troubling thoughts about the poison clot aside, storing it in his system’s space. Rising to his feet, he reassured Lumine, “I’m fine. The poison affected me briefly when I tried to pull it out, but it’s nothing serious.”

He turned to Venti with a grave expression. “Venti… what exactly is Durin’s poison? If the clots are dissolving into Dvalin’s body, what will happen to him?”

Venti’s face darkened as he processed Jia Changjiang’s words. “Durin was a beast created by a being known as the ‘Golden Alchemist.’ Its blood is black, tainted with powers that defy this world… a force from beyond.”

The realization struck Venti like a gust of cold wind. “If that poison integrates into Dvalin’s body… he may become a monster.”

“Is something wrong with Dvalin?” Jean had stepped back from the escalating chaos of the battle to join them, her sword at the ready.

“This is likely the Abyss Order’s doing,” Jia Changjiang explained, his tone heavy. “The poison is fusing with Dvalin… I don’t know if Lumine will be able to purify the curse if it spreads further.”

“I don’t know either,” Lumine replied firmly, her resolve unshaken. “But we won’t know until we try.”

The conversation was cut short as Dvalin shattered the chains that had anchored him to the platform. The dragon soared into the air, disappearing into the vortex of clouds that circled the storm’s eye.

“Did he escape?” Diluc asked, his claymore at the ready, eyes scanning the sky.

“No,” Venti said. “Dvalin is gathering strength. The wind is his power, and it’s making him stronger.”

Jia Changjiang’s sharp eyes tracked the dragon’s movements. “There’s still a clot on his tail. I can’t purify it, but I can rip it out. As for the curse spreading through his body…” He trailed off, frustration evident in his voice.

Jean, gripping her Favonius sword tightly, asked the question hanging over everyone’s heads. “Venti… if Dvalin transforms into a monster… will there still be a way to save him?”

For the first time since they’d met him, Venti fell silent.

Even in the face of Dvalin’s earlier misunderstandings, when the dragon believed they’d come to kill him, Venti had never hesitated.

The silence now was heavier than words.

The fate of Durin, a monster born of the Golden Alchemist’s twisted experiments, loomed over them all. Every one of those creatures had met the same end: death.

A century ago, the great wyrm that had threatened Mondstadt shared this fate, its poisoned body falling to the frozen peaks of Dragonspine.

“…If it comes to that,” Jean said, her voice firm though her hands trembled, “then as Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, I will take responsibility. I’ll stand at the front… and end it for Mondstadt’s East Wind.”

In the heart of the storm, Dvalin’s power surged.

The dragon, once a majestic Anemo entity rivaling the gods, unleashed its wrath without restraint. The curse and poison no longer mattered to him—he had embraced his fury, ascending to a new level of might.

“ROOOAAARRRR!!!”

With an ear-splitting roar, a volley of wind bullets shot from the vortex, slamming into the group and sending them sprawling across the platform.

Dvalin spread his wings wide, the surrounding storm dissipating as if bowing to his will. When the dragon finally emerged, his form was larger, his presence even more menacing.

The once-sky-blue eyes now glowed an ominous crimson. His once-beautiful wings, streaked with purple veins of poison, pulsed like living scars.

The creature before them was no longer the Dragon of the East Wind—it was a being worthy of the name “Stormterror.”

Venti reached out to call to Dvalin, hoping to reestablish their bond. But the connection only fed the curse back into him, leaving him gasping in pain as the dragon roared in fury.

The deafening sound forced everyone to cover their ears as Dvalin’s tail lashed toward Venti’s platform with destructive force.

“Move!”

Jia Changjiang grabbed Venti and dove just in time, rolling onto the adjacent platform with the others. The impact split the platform they had just been standing on, reducing it to rubble that disappeared into the swirling clouds below.

“Venti, are you okay?”

Lumine reached out, her hands glowing faintly as she channeled her power to dispel the curse that lingered on Venti. The malevolent energy receded, and Venti managed a weak smile.

“I’m fine,” he said, though his voice betrayed his exhaustion. “This… this is not going as I had hoped.”

Dvalin, undeterred by the failed strike, turned his attention to their new platform. The dragon began circling them, its body coiling as it prepared another attack.

“He’s stronger now,” Venti observed grimly. “But the curse is also eating deeper into him.”

“I can still try to cleanse him—”

“No.” Jia Changjiang stopped him with a firm hand.

Turning to Lumine, he asked, “How’s your condition?”

“Good enough,” Lumine said with a determined nod.

“Diluc, Jean?”

“Still plenty of fight left,” Diluc replied, his claymore glowing with a steady flame.

Jean tightened her grip on her sword. “I’m ready.”

“Venti, we’re not at the end of the plan yet. Don’t rush into the final step.”

Jia Changjiang hefted his battle axe, its edge glowing faintly with red energy.

“The plan stays the same: drag Dvalin out of the sky, beat him down, and let Lumine purify him!”

He grinned, baring his teeth in a defiant smile. “Four Winds, my foot. We’ve got our own lineup: an Archon, a Weapon Master, a Traveler, and the owner of Dawn Winery!

“Looks to me like we’ve got the upper hand!”

His grin was infectious, even earning a small chuckle from Venti.

“So, let’s finish this.”
