The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [69]

The disaster of the Storm Dragon had finally come to an end.

With Lumine’s help, the curse within Dvalin’s body was purified, and the toxic blood's lingering effects vanished entirely with the aid of the Tear of the Jailer.

Venti had entrusted the power of the Anemo Archon to Dvalin once more, and the dragon’s wounds were fully healed.

Since hearing Venti’s heartfelt words, Dvalin had fallen into deep contemplation, remaining silent.

Now, with everything resolved, confusion stirred within the dragon’s heart—what should it do next?

Beneath them, the platform that had served as their battleground was beginning to crumble.

“...Get on,” Dvalin finally said, his expression still conflicted. Lowering his body before the platform could collapse completely, he glanced at the group, then quickly turned his head to the side. “Get on.”

“Ha-ha~” Venti chuckled, noticing the subtle awkwardness in Dvalin’s demeanor. “Let’s go! Dvalin will take us back to Mondstadt.”

Jia Changjiang watched as Venti, Jean, and Diluc climbed onto Dvalin’s back, their relief evident as they celebrated the dragon’s recovery. Suddenly, Jia Changjiang felt something scamper up his back, stopping to perch on his shoulder.

“Hmm?”

Turning his head, he found Lumine sitting on his shoulder with a broad grin, holding Paimon in her arms.

“What the—?!” Jia Changjiang exclaimed. “Lumine, why aren’t you riding the dragon? What are you doing up here?”

“Riding a dragon is so last season!” Lumine declared without hesitation. “Sitting on you is way cooler! I’ve been wanting to try this!”

With that, she adjusted her position, climbing up to sit on Jia Changjiang’s neck. She grabbed onto the horns of his transformed World Ender form to steady herself.

“???”

Despite his visible confusion, Jia Changjiang had no choice but to unfurl his wings as the platform beneath them began to collapse. He took off into the sky, trailing behind Dvalin.

“The World Ender is not a ride,” he muttered pointedly.

“Oh, so that’s what you call this form?” Lumine retorted, gripping his horns firmly. “Well, this form is amazing! Super cool!”

“Tell me, Jia Changjiang—if you had to choose between riding on Dvalin or flying as the World Ender, which would you pick?” Lumine spread her arms, relishing the wind against her face as she posed the question.

“This…” Jia Changjiang hesitated, momentarily deep in thought.

Flying with Dvalin or as Aatrox?

Obviously, the World Ender wins!

Who wouldn’t want to pick the World Ender? Heck, he’d want to ride on himself!

“Ha-ha-ha! Good answer!” Lumine laughed, thoroughly enjoying herself.

Meanwhile, Paimon, still in Lumine’s arms, looked utterly unamused.

What is wrong with these two? They’re a perfect match in the worst way, Paimon thought, her face slightly green from the dizzying flight.

“Hold tight, Lumine!” Jia Changjiang called out as he flapped his wings harder, accelerating.

The towering World Ender soared through the air, performing a wide loop before flying upside-down alongside Dvalin.

“Ha-ha-ha! Hey, Venti! How’s our flying?” Jia Changjiang shouted, spreading his massive arms as the wind roared past his body.

Freed from the constraints of gravity, Jia Changjiang felt a rush of exhilaration. It was like a child discovering a new toy—he couldn’t wait to try it out.

He and Lumine performed all kinds of aerial maneuvers, their laughter echoing through the skies. Jia Changjiang flew like a carefree bird, while Lumine, thrilled by the daring stunts, clung tightly to his horns.

Only Paimon remained unaffected, looking increasingly nauseated. Flying is convenient, sure, but what’s the big deal? she thought miserably.

Dvalin, observing Jia Changjiang and Lumine’s antics, continued his steady flight but occasionally cast curious glances at their uninhibited freedom.

“You can do it too, Dvalin.”

Sitting on Dvalin’s back, Venti placed a hand gently on the dragon’s scales. “Fly freely… No one can limit your flight anymore. Like the first birds of the world, spread your wings and soar without restraint.”

As Venti spoke, a soft teal glow emanated from his hand, spreading across Dvalin’s body and onto his six majestic wings.

The glow lingered briefly at the wing tips, leaving beautiful traces of wind in the air, painting an elegant trail in Dvalin’s wake.

The same glow enveloped Venti, Jean, and Diluc, anchoring them securely to Dvalin’s back so they wouldn’t fall.

“...”

Dvalin’s body trembled slightly as he heard Venti’s words. “Can I?”

“Dvalin, you don’t need to listen to the Abyss, nor do you need to listen to me,” Venti replied softly, his gaze full of warmth. “Now… listen to your own heart. Fly freely.”

Though hesitant, Dvalin seemed to be considering Venti’s words when Jia Changjiang suddenly swooped in, matching Dvalin’s speed as he flew alongside him.

“Hey, Dragon of the East Wind! Dvalin!”

Jia Changjiang called out casually, gesturing for Dvalin to follow. “Stop overthinking it!”

“Let’s have a race! The weather’s perfect today—come fly with me!”

Grinning, he added, “You’ve regained your senses, so take a good look around.”

“See for yourself the beauty of Mondstadt, the land you’ve protected as the Dragon of the East Wind!” Jia Changjiang gave Dvalin a thumbs-up. “I’ve gotta say, I absolutely love this place. The people, the wine, the songs—everything!”

“Me too!”

Lumine poked her head out from between Jia Changjiang’s horns, shouting enthusiastically. “It’s amazing here! The people are so nice, and there are so many beautiful girls! I love staying in Mondstadt!”

“The Mondstadt I’ve protected as the Dragon of the East Wind…”

Dvalin’s gaze shifted to the horizon, where the coastline of Mondstadt was coming into view.

He saw the land he had guarded for centuries.

“It truly is beautiful…” he murmured.
