The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [75]

Lumine grabbed Amber’s hand, only for Paimon to swoop in and shove herself between them.

Lumine pouted but ultimately let it go.

Amber chuckled softly. “It’s alright. No matter where you go, as long as the wind can reach, we’ll always meet again someday.”

“For now, let’s eat! We’re not leaving just yet—we’ll be in Mondstadt for a while longer,” Lumine reassured her.

Jia Changjiang, ever the enthusiastic foodie, pulled out a pair of makeshift chopsticks he’d whittled from twigs. “Let’s dig in! After we’re done, we can head over to see Jean and Venti…”

“Huh?” Amber tilted her head. “Jean said she wanted to see you both, something about the Holy Lyre der Himmel.”

“Isn’t the lyre already with Venti?” Lumine asked. “Why does she need us?”

Amber shrugged. “I’m not sure. It sounded like she wanted to thank you for everything.”

“Ah, I see…”

Jia Changjiang cracked his knuckles and stretched his wrists.

The final chapter of Mondstadt’s main story arc was approaching.

He vividly remembered what came next—the confrontation with La Signora and the loss of Venti’s Gnosis.

The Fatui Harbinger was bound to be a formidable opponent.

Taking a deep breath, Jia Changjiang reflected on the battle with Dvalin.

He had triumphed, completing the mission, but only by relying on the borrowed power of the Darkin.

The fight, while successful, hadn’t been as fulfilling as he’d hoped.

But now, a new foe awaited. One who wielded the power of the Tsaritsa herself.

This is going to be fun.

The thought sent a thrill down his spine, and before he realized it, he’d accidentally snapped his chopsticks in half.

“…I guess I’ll make another pair,” he muttered, trying to rein in his excitement. “Gotta eat well to fight well.”

Meanwhile, in Mondstadt’s cathedral, Jean and Venti were waiting.

Venti sat on one of the pews, swinging his legs idly as he listened to the countless prayers offered to the Anemo Archon.

Though he could have handed over the Holy Lyre der Himmel directly, Venti had insisted on waiting for Jia Changjiang and Lumine to arrive before returning it to the church.

Jean had agreed, albeit curiously.

Barbara, the church’s deaconess and the one assigned to retrieve the lyre, was also present.

As Venti observed the sisters, he noted their awkwardness. Both clearly cared for one another but seemed unaccustomed to being alone together.

Hopefully, this little moment will help them bond, Venti thought with a mischievous smile.

Before long, Jia Changjiang and Lumine arrived at the cathedral, their presence breaking the tension between Jean and Barbara.

“Lumine, Mr. Jax,” Jean greeted warmly. “This is Barbara, our church’s Deaconess and the one responsible for retrieving the Holy Lyre.”

“Whoa!” Lumine’s eyes sparkled.

Another pretty girl.

Jia Changjiang, already familiar with Barbara, simply nodded politely in greeting.

“May the Anemo Archon bless you,” Barbara said sincerely. “Thank you so much for resolving everything so peacefully.”

“Peaceful… Well, it was relatively peaceful,” Paimon murmured, glancing at Jia Changjiang and Lumine, who seemed unfazed by their previous exploits.

“Well then, can we hand over the Holy Lyre now?” Barbara asked, her spirits high. “The Cardinal’s been waiting for some time.”

“Of course, here it is!” Venti produced the lyre with a flourish. Thankfully, it had remained intact, thanks to Lumine’s efforts.

Barbara carefully accepted the lyre, her Vision faintly glowing as she sensed the lingering wind elemental energy within it.

“It feels… different,” she noted. “Is this because Lord Barbatos has returned?”

“Actually, you should thank Dvalin,” Venti corrected. “It was his tears that restored the lyre to its current state.”

“Dvalin’s tears? He must have done it for Lord Barbatos’ sake!” Barbara exclaimed, clutching the lyre with reverence.

“Er… something like that,” Lumine replied, glancing at Jia Changjiang.

Had they failed to find Dvalin back then, they probably would have resorted to shaking tears out of the dragon themselves.

As they conversed, the lyre’s strings suddenly snapped with a loud twang.

Everyone’s attention snapped to the lyre in Barbara’s hands.

“Ah! The Holy Lyre!” Barbara gasped, paling as she nearly fainted on the spot.

“Venti, what’s going on?” Jia Changjiang whispered urgently.

The strings didn’t appear to have snapped naturally.

“Probably… maybe… I might’ve gotten a bit carried away when I was playing earlier. The wind energy might’ve been too much for the starsteel strings,” Venti admitted sheepishly. “Eh-heh?”

“‘Eh-heh’ isn’t an explanation,” Jia Changjiang muttered, sighing. “Fine, let’s just say it broke on its own.”

“Luckily, it’s easy enough to fix,” Venti said, taking the lyre back.

The broken strings shimmered with light as they slowly reconnected, the lyre’s restoration accompanied by a faint melody.

“There, good as new!” Venti said, handing it back to Barbara. “Make sure to take good care of it, alright?”

Barbara beamed. “It’s fixed! I’ll take it to the vault immediately.”

“I’ll accompany you,” Jean offered, glancing between Barbara and Venti’s group.

“Go on, then,” Venti replied, smiling slyly. “We’ll… just head out for now.”

He turned to Lumine and Jia Changjiang, winking mischievously. “Before the strings snap again, we should probably leave, right?”

“Don’t run off!” Lumine shouted, chasing after him with Paimon in tow. “You bard!”

Jia Changjiang chuckled and gave Jean a small wave. “Guess I’ll follow them. Don’t worry about the lyre—it’s really fixed this time.”

Jean let out a sigh of relief. “Thank you, Mr. Jax. I’ll see you later.”

“See you,” Jia Changjiang replied, stepping out of the cathedral.

As he walked, he drew his axe, casually polishing its blade.

“Today feels like a good day for a fight…” he mused, humming a disjointed tune to himself.

His eyes glinted with anticipation.

“Let’s have a good match, La Signora.”
