The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [84]

"Wolvendom? What’s there to see? No one to spar with, no knights to train…" Jia Changjiang trailed off, already preparing to decline.

But then he paused, something clicking in his mind. "Wait… Wolvendom?"

If he remembered correctly, Wolvendom was home to a giant wolf lord—an elite weekly foe, just like Dvalin.

"Hold on! You said we’re going to Wolvendom in two days?"

His demeanor shifted instantly. "I’m in! I’ll ask Jean for some time off. The knights could use a break anyway."

"Wow, that was fast!" Lumine smirked. "Alright then, it’s settled. I’ll come get you when we’re ready to leave."

After finishing his training sessions with the Knights of Favonius, Jia Changjiang returned to the inn for a much-needed rest.

But before sleeping, he decided to check on his system, which he hadn’t touched in days.

The moment he opened it, he noticed something different. The interface was sleeker, with several new features.

"Huh?"

Sitting upright in bed, Jia Changjiang scrolled through the updated menus.

Though he had refused to make any of the system’s earlier choices, it seemed that changes had occurred anyway.

Among the new additions, one caught his eye: Weapon Crafting.

"I won’t have to bother Wagner for gear anymore?" he mused aloud, tapping the option.

A small virtual furnace appeared, accompanied by an instruction manual reminiscent of when he first unlocked the system.

After skimming the manual, Jia Changjiang got the gist:

The feature allowed him to use any material to craft weapons. The more compatible the materials, the more powerful the resulting weapon. The catch? He had to gather the materials himself.

The process was part skill, part luck. After tossing materials into the furnace, it would offer him several tags to choose from. The furnace would then craft a weapon aligned with those tags.

"Basically… it’s like a weapon version of a gacha system," Jia Changjiang muttered.

Curious, he decided to test it out. Digging into his inventory, he pulled out several white iron pickaxes he’d made at a crafting bench earlier and tossed them into the furnace.

Once he confirmed the materials, three tags appeared above the furnace: Excavation, Enlargement, and Rock Breaker.

"Hah! Let’s see what this does," he chuckled, selecting all three tags.

The furnace began to hum, emitting the sound of clanging metal. Moments later, the crafting process finished.

Jia Changjiang reached into the furnace and pulled out a colossal iron pickaxe, nearly as tall as he was.

Its massive head gleamed with a razor-sharp edge, seemingly designed to crush through the toughest of rocks.

"Whoa!"

He hefted the giant pickaxe, appreciating its weight and balance. A grin spread across his face—this thing could obliterate a mountain.

Opening the newly enhanced appraisal feature, Jia Changjiang examined his creation:

[Giant White Iron Pickaxe: A masterfully crafted pickaxe for high-efficiency excavation. Provides significant bonuses when breaking rock-based materials.]

"This might actually come in handy…"

His gaze shifted back to the furnace, his mind racing.

Reaching into his inventory, he pulled out a feather imbued with a faint breeze: the Dvalin's Plume he’d acquired from Dvalin.

"If this works… maybe the wolf lord drops crafting materials too," Jia Changjiang murmured, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Two days later, the Knights of Favonius were finally enjoying a rare break from training. Their happiness was palpable as they realized they could finally relax after completing their daily duties.

Meanwhile, Jia Changjiang slung his pack over his shoulder and headed out to meet Lumine near Wolvendom.

"Mr. Jax!" Paimon called out cheerfully, flying up and waving enthusiastically as Jia Changjiang approached.

"Jax, you’re late!" Lumine teased, munching on a bag of salted mushroom crisps. She offered him a bag with a grin. "Want some? It’s a new snack Miss Sara came up with—spiced mushroom jerky!"

"You’ve already eaten five bags today!" Paimon scolded, hands on her hips.

"So what? You’ve had three!" Lumine shot back, giving Paimon a pointed look.

"That’s because they’re really tasty…" Paimon mumbled, her indignation fading.

"No thanks, I already ate," Jia Changjiang said with a laugh, rubbing his hands together. "So, Wolvendom’s just ahead, right?"

"Yep, yep!" Paimon chimed in, happy to shift the topic. "Not many people go there. It’s untouched wilderness, a place where nature reigns supreme!"

She floated ahead of the group, spreading her arms wide as she spoke.

"The creatures here are super strong! Survival of the fittest and all that. Even the slimes grow this big!"

Paimon stretched her arms as far as they could go to emphasize her point.

Suddenly, a massive shadow loomed behind her.

Turning to look, Paimon froze as her brain slowly registered the towering water slime behind her.

"See? Just like this—giant—wait… SLIME?!"

Before she could flee, the enormous slime enveloped her, trapping her inside its gelatinous body.

"Glub glub glub!" Paimon’s muffled protests bubbled within the creature.
