The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [89]

Elsewhere, after parting ways with Jia Changjiang, Lumine and Paimon were on their way back to Mondstadt when they stumbled upon Amber near Springvale. She was fending off a group of Hilichurls while protecting a young girl who seemed to be a Springvale resident.

“Amber!”

Spotting her in the middle of battle, Lumine didn’t hesitate. She dashed forward, summoning a massive whirlwind from her blade. The gale swept through the Hilichurls, lifting them into the air and slashing at them with razor-sharp wind blades.

“Lumine!” Amber’s face lit up with relief at their arrival. Without missing a beat, she drew her bow, her fiery arrow shooting into the whirlwind. The vortex ignited instantly, transforming into a blazing inferno that consumed the remaining Hilichurls.

“Amber, are you okay?” Lumine asked as she ran over, her voice full of concern.

“I’m fine. I noticed this villager being attacked and stepped in,” Amber replied, soothing the frightened girl, who was still clutching her delivery bag. “We cleared out Hilichurls from this area recently, but it seems they’re taking advantage of the chaos caused by the wolves’ rampage to act up again.”

“Wolves?” Lumine tilted her head, puzzled. “What’s going on with the wolves?”

“They attacked Springvale this morning,” the girl, who introduced herself as Sigrid, said angrily. “It’s happened several times recently! Luckily, the hunters in town managed to fend them off, so no one was hurt. But they took a lot of the wild boars we were raising!”

“Really?” Amber’s brows furrowed in frustration. “That’s outrageous!”

“Wait… this morning?” Lumine frowned, crossing her arms in thought. “Are you sure it was this morning?”

“Yes!” Sigrid nodded emphatically. “They left after the attack, so I thought it was safe to head out on my delivery. But then these Hilichurls showed up…”

“That’s strange…” Lumine muttered, glancing at her hand—the one that had just petted wolf pups earlier that day. “I was at Wolvendom this morning, and the wolves were all there. Jax and I even caught some boars for them.”

“Are we even talking about the same wolves?” Paimon asked, floating beside her, equally perplexed.

Amber thought for a moment. “If we head to the site of the attack, we might still find some clues. Investigating should clear things up.”

After bidding farewell to Sigrid, who insisted on continuing her delivery, Lumine and Amber made their way toward Springvale.

“By the way, Lumine, Paimon, what brings you here? And what was that about wolves?” Amber asked curiously as they walked.

“We took a commission from the Adventurers’ Guild to investigate Wolvendom,” Paimon explained. “Amber, do you know a boy from Wolvendom named Razor?”

Amber’s expression turned puzzled, much to their surprise. “A boy from Wolvendom? Who’s that?”

Lumine blinked in confusion. “Razor mentioned a red, fiery girl… isn’t that you?”

“Hmm… it does sound like me…” Amber trailed off before suddenly yelping. “Traveler, what are you doing?!”

“Checking if you’re hot,” Lumine replied, reaching out toward Amber’s forehead.

Bonk!

Paimon headbutted Lumine, cutting off her antics.

Blushing furiously, Amber stammered, “There have been frequent reports of wolf attacks recently… but if what you’re saying is true, then there’s definitely more to this situation.”

Rubbing her now-sore forehead, Lumine nodded. “Yeah, the wolves around Razor didn’t seem like the type to attack villages. They were calm and even playful.”

“You should come with us to see them sometime. The wolf pups are so cute!” Lumine added with a grin.

Amber’s face flushed a little. “Uh… okay, sure…”

With the topic of wolves temporarily set aside, the group arrived at Springvale.

The first thing they saw was a merchant, Hopkins, sprawled on the ground.

“Phew… scared me to death…” he muttered. Though he appeared shaken, there wasn’t a single scratch on him.

After a brief investigation of the area, Amber found tufts of black fur nearby.

“This doesn’t look like the fur of wolves native to Mondstadt…” Amber said with a frown.

“So they’re really from another pack?” Lumine asked.

“Not sure yet, but this is a solid lead,” Amber replied. “Let’s calm the townsfolk first, then head back to Wolvendom to investigate further.”

As they returned to the village center, Hopkins rudely addressed them, his voice tinged with impatience. “So, Knights of Favonius, did you figure anything out?”

Though his tone was unpleasant, Amber responded kindly, “We’ve found some clues. We’ll head back to Wolvendom to get to the bottom of this. The Knights won’t let any harm come to Springvale.”

“Tch. Took you long enough. What a useless bunch.” Hopkins waved them off dismissively.

“What a rude guy,” Paimon muttered.

Suddenly, Lumine pointed at him, realization dawning on her face. “Wait, I remember you! You’re the shady merchant who tried to sell me regular spring water as ‘holy water!’”

“Ridiculous! My holy water is the real deal!” Hopkins sputtered, his face turning red. “Hmph! We’ll handle the wolves ourselves!”

With that, he called for the hired hunters behind him. “Let’s go!”

“Hey! Don’t do anything stupid!” Amber called after him, but her words fell on deaf ears.

“What a frustrating guy…” Lumine grumbled, her brow furrowed.

“Agreed,” Paimon huffed.

“No matter how rude he is, the Knights can’t just stand by and let him put himself in danger,” Amber said firmly. “Protecting others is our duty, even if they’re not the most pleasant people.”

Lumine smiled, patting Amber’s head. “Amber, you’re such a kind soul. Head pats for you.”

“This is just what a Knight should do! And I’m not a kid…” Amber mumbled, her face flushed. Despite her embarrassment, she didn’t seem to mind the head pats too much. “Let’s hurry to Wolvendom!”

Meanwhile, back in Wolvendom, Jia Changjiang and Razor had begun gathering ore from the area, preparing to forge a new weapon.

“Let me confirm one more time,” Jia Changjiang said, inspecting the materials. “You want a weapon that feels comfortable and sharp, like a wolf’s claw, right?”
