The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [95]

“Lumine, is this really the time to think about that?”

Amber, who seemed the most grounded of the group in this chaotic situation, turned to Lumine with an exasperated look.

“Do you know where Jax is right now?”

“He’s over there!” Klee piped up enthusiastically, pointing ahead. “Uncle Jax is playing with the big fluffy!”

“Playing?”

Amber’s expression was a mix of confusion and disbelief.

“Yeah!” Klee nodded vigorously, her little pigtails bouncing.

“Uncle Jax looked super happy while he was with the big fluffy, so they must be playing!”

Klee continued with her usual cheerfulness, “Uncle Jax said that if anyone came to hurt the fluffies, Klee should scare them away with bombs!”

She puffed out her chest proudly.

“Klee’s super strong! I even scared away some bad wolves that attacked me earlier! Well… I kind of accidentally burned down a tre—”

Klee abruptly stopped, clapping her hands over her mouth, but it was too late. Amber had heard every word.

“Klee, what did you say you burned?”

“Nothing! Klee didn’t start a forest fire! Klee just…” Her voice trailed off as she mumbled, “Accidentally burned a tree… but Uncle Jax put it out right away…”

“?!”

Amber’s initial shock at Klee’s confession was quickly replaced by relief upon hearing that Jia Changjiang had handled the situation.

“Klee, can we… not tell Acting Grand Master Jean about this?” Klee looked up at Amber with wide, pleading eyes.

Amber hesitated for a moment before sighing.

“Now’s not the time to worry about that. We need to find Jax quickly.”

“Well… do we really need to stop him?” Lumine interjected, tilting her head thoughtfully. “Jax usually knows what he’s doing, even if he does end up fighting…”

Amber frowned. “I was talking about helping him, not stopping him.”

“Do you honestly think Jax would lose?” Lumine replied, a slight smirk on her face. “And do you think he’d ever let us help him?”

Amber fell silent, realizing Lumine had a point.

“Still, Amber’s right. We should at least check it out,” Lumine said decisively. “If something does go wrong, we need to be there.”

As the group approached the ruins, they began to feel the temperature shift drastically. At times, it grew icy cold, and at others, it warmed as though the frost had retreated.

When they reached the edge of the ruins, they saw a massive wolf sprinting across a coliseum-like arena, lunging repeatedly at a man holding an enormous bow in the center of the field.

“Jax switched weapons again!” Lumine said with interest, her eyes fixed on the massive bow in Jia Changjiang’s hands.

“Are all his weapons that huge?”

“So strong…” Razor’s eyes lit up as he watched the battle unfold between Jia Changjiang and the Wolf King.

Razor quickly recognized what was happening.

“It’s a trial. The leader is testing Jax.”

The realization left Razor awestruck. He hadn’t expected the man who offered to guide him and craft him a weapon to possess such overwhelming strength.

If I can become this strong… I’ll be able to protect Lupical and my friends.

Meanwhile, Jia Changjiang, though aware of the group’s arrival, kept his focus entirely on his opponent.

Holding the massive bow in one hand and pulling the string taut with the other, he never let his gaze waver from the Wolf King.

For many, the image of an archer might conjure a frail figure clad in light armor, standing far from the frontlines.

Ridiculous, Jia Changjiang thought to himself.

In a world filled with elemental powers, archers might be an exception, but traditionally, raw physical strength was paramount for a bowman.

In the past, showing off one’s strength often meant drawing an impossibly heavy bow. Pulling, steadying, aiming, and firing repeatedly required tremendous stamina.

On a battlefield, the idea of archers as defenseless backliners was a myth. Anyone charging toward a line of archers would soon discover…

Imagine facing a row of towering men, each nine feet tall, clad in bronze helmets and iron armor, their bows set aside as they pick up equally massive nine-foot blades. And then, grinning wickedly, they charge straight at you…

What kind of archer wouldn’t know how to fight up close? A dead one.

Jia Changjiang licked his lips as he thought about the absurd portrayals of scrawny archers in stories he’d read.

“Pathetic,” he muttered, spitting on the ground.

“Think you can shoot straight while being delicate? What do you think this is, some world where you get magical powers handed to you?”

With that, Jia Changjiang pulled back the bowstring once more. This time, three ghostly white arrows appeared, ready to fly.

As the Wolf King charged toward him, Jia Changjiang released the string. The arrows streaked through the air with a sharp whoosh, aimed straight at the Wolf King’s path.

The Wolf King, unfazed, swiped at the arrows mid-charge. His massive claws collided with the projectiles, shattering them into shards of light.

“You cannot yet unleash the full potential of that bow,” the Wolf King rumbled, its voice calm and ancient.

As a god from an era far older than the Seven, the Wolf King had seen countless weapons. This bow, however, was extraordinary—Jia Changjiang had spoken the truth. It was likely the same bow that had once felled suns in another world.

Still, the human before him had yet to master it completely.

“So what if I can’t wield it perfectly?” Jia Changjiang grinned, undeterred. “If I’m not good enough, then I’ll just work harder!”

“If I lack strength, I’ll push myself to grow stronger! If I can’t fully harness my weapon’s power… I’ll do everything I can to catch up!”

Dodging another charge from the Wolf King, Jia Changjiang’s grin only widened.

“Human,” the Wolf King paused, gazing at him. “Tell me… why do you seek to grow stronger?”

Jia Changjiang stopped briefly, lowering his bow as he pondered the question.

“Do I need a reason to get stronger?”

After a moment of thought, he answered confidently:
“I want to be strong so I can meet more powerful opponents. I want to fight those who can truly challenge me. Isn’t that reason enough? Just like a child growing up into an adult—does growing up need a reason?”

His eyes shone brightly, like stars in the night sky.

“This is my desire. My ambition!”

An archer that can't fight in melee, isn't an archer at all. They are but children, mimicking an archer. Pathetic.

God Is I, the Lord!
