The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [98]

After the group had thoroughly enjoyed petting the Wolf King, Jia Changjiang and Lumine reluctantly climbed down from its back.

Or rather, the Wolf King finally had enough of them burying themselves in its fur for far too long and unceremoniously shooed the two shameless individuals off.

Even Klee, who had been thoroughly enjoying herself, was lifted off the Wolf King by Amber, who decided it was about time to intervene. However, Jia Changjiang and Lumine were so immersed in their bliss that not even pulling them off worked.

It wasn’t until the Wolf King spoke in its low, commanding voice that they finally descended, albeit with satisfied grins plastered across their faces.

Even Razor, after much encouragement from Jia Changjiang and Lumine, couldn’t resist giving the Wolf King’s fur a few pats himself.

The reason? The fur was just that soft.

“Jia Changjiang,” the Wolf King rumbled, turning its gaze toward him.

“Remember your promise.”

It then raised its head sharply, looking off into the distance.

“Hmph. Perfect timing… let me see how you intend to handle this.”

“The ones who slander my tribe… my anger toward them has not yet abated.”

With a single glance at the group, the Wolf King’s form began to fade, leaving the ruins behind.

The wolf pack, which had been hiding among the ruins, also disappeared from sight, sensing the tension and retreating to safety.

Razor’s ears twitched as he looked in the same direction the Wolf King had been gazing.

“Footsteps…”

“And… the smell of blood,” he added, his sharp senses picking up the metallic tang in the air.

The sound of footsteps grew louder, and soon a group of hunters emerged from the forest. At the forefront was none other than the merchant from earlier, grumbling irritably.

“Damn it! Where the hell did all the wolves go? We’ve been at this for hours and barely caught any!”

One of the hunters replied calmly, “This is normal. Wolves are clever. Honestly, the fact we’ve run into this many is already unusual.”

“But the tracks are leading this way. We’ll probably encounter more soon.”

“Don’t look, Klee,” Amber said quickly, stepping in front of Klee and covering her eyes. She had seen what the hunters were carrying.

Several lifeless black wolves hung from their shoulders, bound and bloodied.

The corpses dripped crimson, their legs tied together, and their heads drooped lifelessly.

These weren’t Razor’s Lupical—they were the foreign black wolves. Yet, the state of their bodies made it clear that many of the injuries were inflicted out of spite rather than necessity.

“Damn it, catching just these few wolves isn’t enough to make up for my losses!” the merchant growled, his face twisted with frustration.

“Those beasts dared to scare me like that…”

Then, with a regretful expression, he muttered, “I shouldn’t have gone so hard earlier. Damaging the pelts like that reduces their value…”

Razor’s eyes darkened as he stared at the merchant, his anger barely contained.

Seeing the brutalized wolves, Razor couldn’t help but think of his Lupical.

If he hadn’t listened to Jia Changjiang and scattered his pack to safety, would they have ended up like this?

The thought filled him with rage, his gaze turning sharp and hostile.

The merchant, noticing the group in the ruins, froze momentarily before yelling in alarm at Razor’s glare.

“Wh-what are you looking at?! Stop staring at me like that!”

One of the hunters spoke up, recognizing Razor.

“That’s him! The one they say was raised by wolves!”

“Him?” The merchant, Hopkins, scrutinized Razor, his eyes narrowing before shifting to Amber.

Upon seeing someone from the Knights of Favonius, his demeanor changed, becoming haughtier.

“So it’s you, huh?” he sneered. “I was wondering why the wolves seemed so clever—turns out you’ve been helping those beasts scheme against humans!”

His words grew sharper and more venomous.

“What, you think the ones who feed you are your parents? Did you forget what you are, wolf brat?!”

“Enough!” Amber couldn’t stay silent any longer, stepping forward to confront the merchant.

“You’re just picking on Razor because he doesn’t talk much!” Paimon exclaimed, flying forward angrily.

This merchant… he was going too far!

“Oh, what’s this? Is the Knights of Favonius going to protect him now?” Hopkins scoffed, crossing his arms.

“Am I wrong? For all we know, the wolves that attacked the village could have been sent by this little beast!”

“A person like that—why are the Knights even keeping him around? You should’ve locked him up long ago!” Hopkins yelled, his voice dripping with malice.

“I’ll report this to the Knights! They’d better deal with it!”

Hopkins’s sharp tongue showed no mercy, and Razor, unaccustomed to verbal conflict, struggled to respond.

“Eat this!”

Before Hopkins could say another word, a spiky purple fruit sailed through the air and smacked him square in the face.

“OW! What the—?!” Hopkins yelped, clutching his nose as he turned to see Lumine, her expression icy.

She had finally had enough. Seeing Razor and Amber harassed like this—and knowing Razor wouldn’t fight back—she took matters into her own hands.

Pulling the most painful-looking item out of her inventory, she hurled it at Hopkins with pinpoint accuracy.

“You dare hit me?!” Hopkins shouted, his face red with anger. “Do you know who I am?!”

“Oh, I don’t just hit,” Lumine said coolly. She suddenly lifted her leg and delivered a flying kick to his face.

“I also kick!”

Hopkins went sprawling to the ground. Lumine didn’t stop there. She didn’t even draw her sword—she just started punching him, much like she had with that Fatui Debt Collector before.

“Bullying Razor?! Yelling at Amber?! Making trouble for Acting Grand Master Jean?!” Lumine punctuated each accusation with a fist or kick.

“Scamming people?! Insulting others?! Take that!”

Her unexpected outburst stunned everyone into silence. It wasn’t until Hopkins’s hired hunters tried to intervene that the tension snapped.

But before they could move, a massive battle axe slammed into the ground in front of them, stopping them dead in their tracks.

“Oh? You lot want to join in, too?” Jia Changjiang asked, resting the axe on his shoulder and stepping forward with a menacing grin.

“If his filthy mouth earned him a beating, I’m sure I could help you earn yours.”

Rolling up his sleeves to reveal muscular arms, he added, “What do you say? Should I help you out?”
