The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [101]

"Jax, Jax!" Lumine exclaimed with excitement upon learning that Jia Changjiang could craft weapons.

"How good is the quality of the weapons you make? Are they as amazing as that iron pickaxe we used last time?"

"Great question!" Jia Changjiang clapped his hands and replied, "I have no idea!"

"Eh?"

Everyone nearby tilted their heads in confusion, puzzled by Jia Changjiang’s frank admission that he didn’t know the quality of his own creations.

"When I craft weapons, I rely entirely on fate!" Jia Changjiang declared with a grandiose sweep of his arm, his expression exuding the air of a confident elder.

"Don’t talk to me about standard-issue weapons or meticulously crafted gear! The art of crafting I use relies on mysterious, magical techniques!"

"No patterns, no techniques, nothing!" he continued with flair. "For me, crafting weapons is all about luck!"

Jia Changjiang explained further, "Bring me enough materials—any materials—and I’ll toss them into my secret technique. Whatever weapon comes out, that’s what you get! No tricks, no deceit—just an ancient family secret! Don’t ask questions, because the answer is always: family secret!"

His explanation left Lumine and the others half-understanding but intrigued.

"So… if I just bring you materials, you’ll make me a weapon, right?" Lumine asked, her eyes sparkling.

"Any kind of materials?"

Her gaze betrayed a deep sense of anticipation.

The tools Jia Changjiang had crafted previously—pickaxes, axes, and the like—had been astonishingly useful.

During a recent wilderness expedition, Lumine had encountered a Hilichurl Berserker wielding a massive rock shield. She had spent ages trying to break the shield with her sword, to no avail. Fortunately, she remembered she still had a leftover white iron pickaxe in her bag. Pulling it out, she shattered the shield in just a few swings.

That kind of miraculous performance was unforgettable.

Not only that, the pickaxe doubled as a mining tool, drastically improving her efficiency in completing ore-related commissions from the Adventurers' Guild. Now, Jia Changjiang claimed he could use any materials to forge weapons…

What kind of weapon could be even more amazing than the iron pickaxe?

"Of course, any materials at all!" Jia Changjiang reassured her. "Otherwise, how could it be called a secret technique? Don’t worry—while the result is random, the quality of the weapon should be solid!"

“Razor, I’ll make you a weapon in a bit,” Jia Changjiang added confidently.

“We…”

Just as Jia Changjiang spoke, the voice of the Wolf King, who had vanished moments earlier, echoed around them.

"I thought you would choose a simpler solution to resolve this matter," the Wolf King said, clearly addressing Jia Changjiang.

"You don’t seem like someone who would take such a roundabout approach."

"Ah! It’s the big fluffy one’s voice!" Lumine’s eyes lit up with excitement.

"Where? Where is it?" Klee eagerly looked around, scanning the surroundings.

The Wolf King said nothing for a moment.

This time, it was definitely the right decision not to appear in physical form.

"It was just a small warning to that merchant—an entirely reasonable action," Jia Changjiang replied to the Wolf King.

"While I enjoy a good fight, that doesn’t mean I can’t handle things in a simpler way, right? Now, what I promised before, I’ve already fulfilled, haven’t I?"

"Razor." The Wolf King didn’t respond directly to Jia Changjiang but turned its attention to the boy.

"Go and learn from him."

"Razor, you are not a wolf. The pack cannot teach you anything more," the Wolf King continued.

"You wield steel, not claws. You harness lightning, not fangs. You… are human."

The Wolf King’s tone was firm, but there was a tinge of sadness.

"Follow humans. You can learn much more from them."

The Wolf King knew Razor well but also understood his unique situation. If he continued as he was, Razor risked becoming someone who belonged neither to the wolf pack nor to humanity, finding himself adrift between two worlds.

The arrival of Lumine and the others was a chance to bridge that gap—a chance for Razor to reconnect with the human world. These humans had extended their hands to him and even aided the wolf pack. They were people the Wolf King could trust.

However, Razor protested immediately, clutching his chest in distress. "No! I don’t belong to—"

Before he could finish, a large hand clamped over his mouth.

"Mmmph?!" Razor’s muffled protests were reduced to unintelligible sounds as Jia Changjiang firmly covered his mouth, silencing him.

"I’m not taking responsibility for raising your kid!" Jia Changjiang shot back at the disembodied Wolf King.

"Don’t think you can just dump Razor on me!"

Still keeping Razor’s mouth covered, Jia Changjiang continued, "Razor’s fine as he is. Are you trying to pawn him off on me?! I’ve got fights to pick and people to spar with! Teaching Razor a few things is the most I’m willing to do. I’m not taking care of him full-time!"

"Who says Razor only belongs to humans? He grew up with the wolf pack—how could he not belong there too?"

"Kids might have to make choices, but adults get to have it all!" Jia Changjiang released Razor, patting his shoulder firmly.

"Razor, think carefully. Where do you truly belong?"

Razor’s eyes lit up with sudden understanding. "I… belong to both humans and the wolf pack!"

"You…" The Wolf King was taken aback, its voice tinged with both frustration and resignation.

"Do you understand the consequences of such a choice? Do you think you can truly find belonging in both worlds?"

Before Razor could waver under the Wolf King’s reprimand, Lumine interjected confidently, "Of course he can!"

She continued, "Razor has Lupical in the wolf pack and friends like us among humans. Isn’t that enough?"

"Yes! Razor and Klee are good friends!" Klee chimed in, hugging Razor’s leg tightly.

"That’s right! Razor is our friend too!" Paimon added enthusiastically.

Amber, seeing how things were unfolding, spoke up as well. "If Razor ever wants to spend a few days in the city, the Knights of Favonius can help with that."

Surrounded by such encouragement, Razor looked overwhelmed yet deeply moved. Behind him, Jia Changjiang grinned broadly, his hands resting on Razor’s shoulders.

"So," Jia Changjiang said, turning his gaze to the Wolf King, "if Razor doesn’t want to give up either side, then that’s his desire."

"And if it’s a desire," Jia Changjiang concluded with a sly smile, "then Razor will just have to work hard to make it happen. Don’t you think so, Wolf King?"
